He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat. A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words. Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?" The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way." I wrote: "Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it." Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective? Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear. The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling. And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it! Happy Thanksgiving to all! Jimmy From Nazareth to Bethlehem! Our Drive Through Nativity 2016 will be Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. This is an exciting outreach into our community last year 231 cars drove through (and it was the fist year!!) We are excited to expand our sets this year in order to share even more of the story of our Savior s birth with our friends, families and neighbors. We will be having a fundraiser in November to help cover the cost of hosting this event. Every donation will be an important part of this ministry!! Please watch for the story board in the Narthex on Sunday mornings. As we collect donations we will move Mary and Joseph along the path to Bethlehem! The distance between Nazareth and Bethlehem is about 65 miles, and at the time, took Mary and Joseph four to five days!! Let s see if we can reach our goal in 4 Sundays!! Please mark your checks with DTN and see Marcie if you have any questions!

The service is made unique each year as the congregation provides the message by bringing an item which represents something or someone for whom you are thankful and placing it on the communion table. Pastor Jimmy holds each item and you are invited to speak about it. If you choose not to speak about it, there will be small cards for you to write a note about the item you set on the communion table. Get out those family recipes and join us on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend for the Annual chili-cookoff and Chrismon Service. At 5pm on November 27, join us in the gym for dinner followed by the 6pm Chrismon Service when we finish decorating the sanctuary and the Chrismon tree for the Advent Season. We ll sing some carols, have some food, and share some memories. For more information, contact Lynne Harrison at lynne-harrison@comcast.net or call the church office at 770-993-4919.
