Join us for some indoor carnival games and prizes! Our older students will run the games, kids 3rd grade and younger can play them! Bring your friends! There will be a short worship service in the sanctuary that is designed especially for kids and parents on the 2nd Sunday of each month from 9:40 to 10:20 am, during what is normally Pond and Splash time. All are welcome! Would you be willing to share a story of your faith? We are starting to look for people who would be willing to share any aspect of their faith story during a Wednesday night Lenten service this year. Speakers typically speak for 5-10 minutes. Wednesdays in Lent this year are March 13,20, 27, April 3 and 10. "Always be ready to give an account of the hope that is within you" (1 Peter 3:15. Page 4 JAN UAR Y 2 019 4th 9th grade Wednesday Night Education 4-9th graders paint for the "Empty Bowls" fundraiser for Place of Hope Students will meet at Art As You Like It ( 109 Division St, Waite Park) to paint a bowl for this great fundraising event! 7-9th graders meet at Art As You Like It on January 16 from 6-7pm, 4-6th graders meet on January 30 from 6-7 pm. NOW AVAILABLE IN THE CHURCH OFFICE! Pick up your 2019 copy of DAILY TEXTS, a daily offering of scripture and dwelling on the Word. Books are available in the church office. They are $8. "Clearing the Air: Making Sense of the Vaping Trend and How to Talk to our Kids About It" -- Parents and all interested adults, please join us on Wed, Jan 2nd at 6:30 pm. There is no kids programming on this night, but parents are invited to come get more information about the current vaping trend, what to look for (different kinds of vapes will be there for you to look at), and how to talk to your kids about it. Community Health Specialist with Benton County Public Health, Brenda Lovitz, will be there to share with us, Please help us spread the word!

ALL THINGS HIGH SCHOOL. A MERRY TIME WAS HAD AT THE... NEW WINE is on hiatus during the month of January while Todd is in Tanzania. Thy will be returning for rehearsals on February 3rd. NEW WINE SUNDAY Mark your calendars when NEW WINE will lead worship services on Sunday, February 24th. January 2018 Page 7 Tanzania j-term trip Pastor Todd will once again be co-leading a J-term class of students from Gustavus Adolphus College to Tanzania during this month of January. This class will study the role music plays in healing in Tanzania. A number of rural dispensaries will be visited along with a number of Maasai preaching points. Todd will be sharing stories from his trip at a Table Talk in February. Thank you to all the bandage rollers from the God s Work Our Hands project last September. Those bandages will be delivered to the Tungamalenga dispensary. NEEDED SOUND/PROJECTION PERSON or TWO for WEDDINGS We are looking for one or two people who would be available to work running the sound and projection systems for weddings. You will be compensated by the wedding couple at $40/hour. You will be shown how to run the system. Contact the church office if you are interested. Living Nativity at Coborn s in Sauk Rapids. LWLC WOMEN S GROUP The Women s Group generally meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm. Stay tuned to the Waterlife for January meeting date(s). JANUARY 2019 Young People to Share their Experiences of God -- Wed, Jan 9 at 6 pm -- The congregation is invited to come hear Tricia Walz and several central MN young people come tell about their experiences of God. They will be speaking to our 4-9th graders and parents, but EVERYONE is welcome to come! Their book will also be available for purchase that night. Here is more information about the book and about what they will be talking about that night: Page 8 "By His Mercy" is a collection of testimonies of how 11 young, ordinary, local, Christians have seen God's extraordinary mercy. Each story is very different stories of miracles, surviving a plane crash, losing a loved one, discerning a vocation. All of them are very powerful and each of them shows how we have seen God s mercy in our lives. We hope that this book will inspire people to look into their own lives and notice how God has worked and showed them His mercy. PLEASE KEEP THE HEALING HAITI TEAM in your prayers while they are in Haiti bringing fresh water to Cite Soleil, visiting orphanages and schools, supporting local initiatives and businesses and serving the elderly. The Healing Haiti mission trip is from Monday, Jan 14 through Monday, Jan 21. PIANO POSITION UPDATE HOME DELIVERED MEALS You may have noticed a few different faces leading our music at worship services as of late. Janet Anderson, our piano accompanist ended her time in that position on December 9th. Janet will be continuing to direct the Living Waters choir. In the meantime, Living Waters has been interviewing candidates to share the piano position in the future. If you know of someone who might be interested in this job opportunity, please have them send their resume to the church, and they will then be contacted for an interview. A BIG THANK YOU to Janet for her time accompanying the worship services at Living Waters over the last year. Join us this August for a living waters holden village trip! Part of Todd s sabbatical this last summer was a trip to Holden Village. Holden is an ELCA retreat community, high in the Cascade Mountains in Washington. What an amazing place and experience...enough so that he d love to bring a group from Living Waters out to also experience Holden. Please consider joining Todd and Kris as they journey back to Holden this summer. The group will fly out to Seattle and travel by van and boat to Holden Village, staying a few days. Days at Holden are full of activities or free...you choose! There are interesting lectures to attend, art classes to take, concerts from guest artists to hear.
