INITIALLING To look over the minor s learning it s useful to show itself through symbols. Infact it s very important that the educator should be aware of which skills could be learnt, unknown or in progress by child. Thus to complete the simpliest activities before than the harder themes, or to avoid repeating activities already passed. So we advise to initial each card with the below index a point at the beginning of learning; a cross, for the card or activities where the child answers correctly but without a minimum verbal comment as required, for example an object name; a circle surrounding a cross, to indicate which cards or activities show a minimum verbal comment. a square inclusive of a circle and a cross, to indicate which cards or activities the child passed succefully. PROGRESS LEVEL DICTIONARY TRAJECTORIES LANGUAGE: VERBAL ASSOCIATION LABYRINTHS 3

LOGICAL AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT BASE PROGRAM DICTIONARY 4

THE DICTIONARY For children mentally disadvantaged or deaf is difficult to understand all words. It s essential to achieve greater cultural richness and a consequent greater understanding of written text to recognize many objects, animals or plants and report their names. The album that we present is designed for this purpose. USE For deaf people who begin to read. 1st Phase. The children read the short sentences in which the subject is present and that article must guess what the picture relates. 2nd Phase. Exposing the underside of the card and identifing the different images we will ask the child to say the name of the object. 3rd Phase. After covered the bottom of the card the child has to verbalize the name of the subject. 4th Phase. The child must indicate, through lip-reading, the image showed by the educator. For children with severe mental or socio-cultural handicap is more useful to use another type of methodology. 1st Phase - Understanding words. The teacher presents the images on the card by saying the name of the object and its characteristics. 2nd Phase - Understanding words. The child must indicate the image corresponding to that required by educator. 3rd Phase - Verbal expressions. The teacher will ask the child to say the object s name. Children who can read and write can link the corresponding image to the sentence and then, later, covering the bottom of the card, they can write the name of the object represented. MENTAL AGE OF REFERENCE four years. 5

We must imagine this path, think it, build it mentally observing the direction of arrows or bullets. It starts frome the arc and, following the various elements, reaches the target. In this case the higher cortical centers are to be encouraged. Objectives: Orientation in space and eye-hand coordination. USE The route must be made with the finger starting from the arc to finish to the target, after touching eventually any other objects. Verbalization Verbalization should be built gradually by the educator, even at different times. MENTAL AGE OF REFERENCE four years. 53

LANGUAGE: On these cards there are three brief sentences to be connected to their images significance. The aim is to promote understanding of names and linguistic expressions present in the sentence, it will lead naturally to greater richness of the vocabulary of the child. When you ask child for the use, function, meaning or characteristics of the image presented, we can help him to develop both the cultural elements and the expressive language. USE First stage To stimulate verbal comprehension you will read the first sentence and the child must indicate the image to which it refers, we will do the same with the others. Second stage In a second phase to stimulate verbal expression noting the image drawn and respecting the content of the written sentences, you will request the use, function, or some characteristic of the object represented. Of course in case of children who can read you must cover the written phrases to avoid they can decipher the answers. AGE REFERENCE Linguistic and intellectual development: at least four years. 66

Emidio Tribulato Wish to grow up Four Level - Volume first. LOGICAL AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT BASE PROGRAM LABYRINTHS 199

Emidio Tribulato Wish to grow up Four Level - Volume first. LABYRINTHS It was known since ancient times the need to activate important intellectual mechanisms to solve the myriad problems posed by a labyrinth. Only the smart and intelligent hero could get out of a labyrinth, not the stupid one. The presence of this test of intelligence in the largest part of test confirms the importance given to this activity in research. To move properly in it, walking in the middle of the road along the shortest route, you must have the overall image of the space, routes and the various possibilities, so we must be able to try and find mentally the best solution quickly. USE It s better to carry out the route with the finger in order to develop not only the orientation in space, but also the hand-eye coordination. The card is not exceeded if the boy crosses some line: "The walls that can not be overcome" or if he can not choose the shortest way. Prior to start with the finger it is useful to invite the boy to do it mentally, in order to stimulate the maximum conceptualization of the problem. To achieve this just ask him to walk through the labyrinth with his eyes, thinking of the shortest route. Verbalization The verbalization of a maze is complex so we will describe the way following by the child. Because of the spatial concepts require huge intellectual and verbal abilities that verbalization may also be done later, when the child has acquired a more mature verbal capacity. MENTAL AGE OF REFERENCE four years old of chronological or mental age. 200
