The Air Hill Breezes 2018 Air Hill BIC Church 7041 Cumberland Hwy. Chambersburg, PA 17202 267-3373 airhilloffice@gmail.com airhillyouth@gmail.com Office Hours 8 am - 1 pm Tues. - Fri. Introducing Our New Pastor John Melhorn John Melhorn accepted Jesus into his heart at the age of 7 at a Good News Club; but it was during his senior year at Messiah College that he fully surrendered his life to Jesus. Ever since then, God has been renovating his heart by placing him in different positions: working at Messiah College, serving as a part -time youth leader, ministering as a chaplain at a PA state park during summers while studying at Evangelical Seminary, and pastoring within the Brethren in Christ Church for the last 24 years. For the last 20 years he served at Faith BIC Church near Baltimore, MD. John holds a B.A. in History from Messiah College and an M. Div. from the Evangelical School of Theology. God has blessed John with a wonderful wife, Nancy, and they have journeyed together in marriage for the last 24 years. John and Nancy have two sons Matthew, who is completing his electrical engineering degree at University of Maryland and Andrew, who is seeking God s direction as he studies at a local community college. Over the years, the Melhorn family has taken trips to different places in the United States or Canada staying in a tent when they stopped. Whether they liked it or not, God often drenched them with showers of blessings on and in their tent. Aside from delighting in Jesus; John takes pleasure in bike riding, playing basketball, solving Sudoku puzzles, and reading. For John, bike riding becomes an even more enjoyable experience if Nancy joins him on the back of their tandem bicycle. In addition to their biking adventures, John and Nancy enjoy playing Dutch Blitz, Yahtzee and Scrabble.

Tea Time What is "A Tea"? A time out from the routine to relax, visit, enjoy beauty, hear soothing music, drink brewed hot tea and eat dainty food. On April 9 at noon, Tammy Wiley and Sandy Bender graciously provided a tea for the Mission Sewing Ladies in the church Annex. Ruth Lehman, Chair.

VBS 2018 is almost here! June 11-15, 12:30 to 4:30 each day. In just a few short weeks Air Hill will once again be transformed into a bible time city. The stage will depict ancient Babylon and the gym will turn into a bustling marketplace. Daniel will be in his room at the palace telling the children exciting stories and you might even encounter a lion's den!! Your children and grandchildren won't want to miss a minute of the fun and excitement. They may register online at airhillchurch.org or contact the church office. How can you help?? Prayer is the most important thing you can do. Pray for the children. Pray for the volunteers. Pray for safety. Pray that seeds will be planted and that each and every child comes to know Christ as their personal savior. Hand out a flyer to kids that might like to attend. You can also help by coming to our work nights and days. Many hands make light work. See bulletin for dates and times. Thanks for all your prayers and support. Let's make this the best VBS ever!

2 0 1 8 S u m m e r I n t e r n Lyle Schlegel The Discipleship Council is pleased to announce the 2018 Allegheny Conference Summer Intern, Lyle Schlegel. Lyle, 19, hails from Hollowell and is finishing his freshman year at Eastern University where he is pursuing a degree in Youth Ministry. His passion for ministry emerged as the result of having strong ministry leaders in his life who influenced Lyle to develop his talents in writing and music. His call to youth ministry emerged during his senior year of high school and Lyle was encouraged to pursue his passion by his mentor, Jacob Harrison, who was then the Pastor to Students and Outreach at Hollowell. Jacob offered Lyle opportunities to serve in teaching and in coordinating events. My walk with Christ truly began the summer before my freshman year of high school. It was at an event run by a youth ministry called Salt N Light. There, Christianity became real for me, not just a reason I need to go to church on Sundays. People prayed over me; not just pastors for ceremony but friends, because they cared about me. Lyle s life was changed by that event and he realized that the community of fellowship and love he experienced was something he wanted to be a part of and he committed his life to Christ. Lyle is currently involved in a drama ministry called Transformed and a campus ministry Cru where he holds a leadership role. Through this internship, Lyle hopes to gain experience and knowledge that will help guide his future in ministry. For now, he simply knows that he wants to follow his ministry calling and he is anxious to learn more about roles in the church, administration, even the technical side of ministry to help him get a better idea of what his future may hold. Lyle s Ministry Interests Include: Preaching Teaching Christian Education Worship and Music Discipleship Missions Evangelism through creative arts Lyle has written skits and monologues

In April several of the young adults at Air Hill spent a weekend, or at least a day, at CRC playing games, laughing together and getting away to hear from God. Warren Peckman was able to share a little of his life s journey with us and challenge us to make sure it is God we are following and not a distraction from what He has for us. It was a great weekend and we were blessed to be able to have fun and to build lasting friendships.
