Series: Simply Jesus Title: My Spiritual Goals for 2019 Text: (John 15:1-16) (Vs 3) Clean = Useable We understand being Physically Clean. When the boys were little, Bath time every night. they would go outside and play in the dirt You Probably had the same practice when you were little. The person sitting next to you would appreciate you continuing that practice. Everyday we go out our home & pickup the filth of the world we inhabit. We understand being Physically Clean BUT Are you Spiritually Clean? Its starts with Salvation (Titus 3:5) Regeneration - New Birth. The Soap has to get on the Inside! I hate eating off dirty dishes? Explain how to load a dishwasher. God s Word has to get inside you! (1 Pet 1:23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. Christ Meant for His People to be Clean Daily: Daily our Soul picks up the filth of this worlds sin. (1 Jn 1:8) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. God likes to use Clean Vessels: How Clean are you? (2 Tim 2:21) If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Right Now, this instant, Are you Clean? Drinking a Coke, with a cigarette But in it. If you were God s drinking glass, We Need to Keep Short Accounts with God: (1 Jn 1:9) If we confess our sins, he faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God s Word has to get inside you! (Ps 119:11) Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Ps 119:9) Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Christ meant for His church to be clean: Eph5:25-26 This Church is only as Holy as It s Members! If every member of FBCK was as spiritually clean as you are, How clean is God s church? (Vs 4-5) 1 st He explains our relationship with Him, by explaining His relationship to the Father Jesus is the Vine: Vs 1 The Father is the husbandman: Vs 1 We are the Branches: Vs 5 Ye are the Branches I Want to Bear Fruit! (Vs 16) It is God s will that we bear fruit, Ordained (Vs 8) God is Glorified when we bear fruit. Our Fruit should lead to souls being saved: (Mat 5:16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Titus 3:14) And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. Abiding in Christ makes me Productive: (Heb 11:6) It is God s will that we be productive, so (Vs 2) God will work on us so we can be productive. God will take the initiative to work on us to make us useable. We need to Surrender to God by faith, by embracing what God has Allowed. (Rom 8:28) Good & Bad. We need to Depend on God to be useable. (Ps 62:1-8) Trust in Him as all times. (John 15:5b) Without me ye can do nothing. Well, I can do a little That s our Pride Talking. (Is 64:6) Our efforts alone is filthy rags. We need to be Obedient unto the Lord to be Useable. We need to surrender to God s Chastening when we are rebellious. (Heb 12:11) Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. It s God s will that we bear fruit: (Vs 16) ordained Illus: 4 Results- (Vs 2) No Fruit, Some Fruit, More Fruit, (Vs 5) Much Fruit - If we are abiding in Christ Abide=Surrendered, Dependance, Obedience What areas of your life do each of these categories represent? No Fruit, Fruit, More Fruit, Much Fruit?

Jesus, the Vine, is the source of all life; Vs 1 I am the true vine, & my Father is the husbandman (Vs 6) If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. True Vine means there was false ones The Branch can do nothing with out the Vine. the Vine can do nothing without the Branch. Jesus, the Vine, Gives Life to US, the Branches: (John 10:10) The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Everything the Vine has, is available to the Branches: Everything Jesus, the Vine has, is available to US, the Branches: (Mat 6:33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Rom 8:32) He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? We cannot stand in Our own strength, We need Christ, the Vine Support us (Vs 5) w/o me you can do nothing (Heb 1:3) upholding all things by the word of his power, He gives Purpose to the Branches: Vs 2 We are to bear fruit! (Jn 15:2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. (Vs 4-5) Abide = Surrender, Dependance, also Abiding in Christ in Obedience Abiding in the Christ makes me productive: (Josh 1:8) Observe to do according to all that is (1 Jn 3:24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. In 2019, I want my Prayers Answered: (Vs 7) (Ps 37:4) Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Jesus, the Vine, is the Support to Us, the Branches:

(1 Jn 3:22) And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. (Jer 33:3) Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. (VS 3) 4-5 In 2019, I want my Prayers Answered: (Vs 7) In 2019, I want to Present the Love of Jesus to others: (Vs 8-9) The Love of Jesus is the best witness of all. It is contrary to the World, the Flesh, The Culture, etc. (1 Jn 4:11-18) Disobedient, Self Centered Christians have done more damage to the cause of Christ than Satan ever has. I am Presenting Christ s Love By Keeping His Commandments: (Vs 10) By Walking in His Love (Eph 5:2) By Loving Other, (John 13:34-35) We are displaying to all that we are His. In 2019, I want my Prayers Answered: I want to Present the Love of Jesus to others: In 2019, I want full Joy! (Vs 11) JOY is a delight of the mind, from the consideration of the present or assured approaching possession of a good. By Abiding In Christ, I can have the Joy of Jesus. By Abiding in Christ = Surrendered, Dependant, Obedient to Christ I will have the Joy of Jesus! that my joy might remain in you JOY is a delight of the mind, from the consideration of the present or assured approaching possession of a good. JOY is the deepest springs of emotion, including the feeling of exultant gladness, which often finds outward expression in such actions as leaping, shouting, and singing. Joy is repeatedly shown to be the natural outcome of fellowship with God. "In thy presence is fullness of

joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore" (PS 16:11) WE ARE notabiding in Christ When We are not Surrendered to Christ: When We are not Depending upon Christ: When We are not Obedient to Christ: We Lose His Joy! King David is a classic example of this. When he sinned with Bathsheba. He was not Surrended to God s will for him to be faithful. He was not Depending upon God to give him fulfillment, He was not Obedient to God by violating the 7th Commandment in committing Adultery. David clearly States in (Ps 51) that He lost the Joy of the Lord. (Ps 51:12-13) Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Happiness is like the Thermometer: It can only measure my surroundings. Joy is the Thermostat that determines my Surroundings Joy is that sustaining fulfilling peace no matter the circumstances. Rejoice Always (Phil 3:1,3; 4:4) In 2019, I want my Prayers Answered: In 2019, I want to Present the Love of Jesus to others: In 2019, I want full Joy! How In the World? 1. Repent 2. Believe 3. Abide Joy is not Happiness: Happiness is determined by your Hap/circumstances.
