Bishop Burbidge invites all Catholics throughout the Diocese of Raleigh, in union with Pope Francis and the universal Church, to observe this conclusion of the Year of Faith by making a Solemn Profession of Faith at Mass. Dear Parishioners of Immaculate Conception, November 2013 As I begin my seventh month as Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh I have exciting information to share with you. This summer we undertook a thorough consideration of how we can utilize resources which are made available to us from the Bishop s Annual Appeal (29% of our budget), monetary donations from individuals (34% of our budget, including workplace campaigns such as United Way or Combined Federal Campaign), grants (16%), donations from parishes (9%), fees (6%), and other revenue (6%). The result of this review: we have re-structured our staffing pattern to reduce expenses for administrative and management staff in order to increase staff providing one-on-one services with families. The staff positions to which more funding is provided are able to reach out to families to: Guide them to develop and secure increased economic stability, Provide clinical counseling, regardless of a family s ability to pay, and Help ensure the health and safety of all family members. I am writing to thank you for your prior contributions to Catholic Charities and to ask you to consider financially supporting Catholic Charities again, so that we may continue to compassionately enact the Corporal Works of Mercy across the Diocese on behalf of the Church. Because of your contributions, in the past year our staff and over 1,500 volunteers assisted more than 63,500 people in 18,000 families. We have helped families eat when they may not have otherwise been able. We have helped adults prepare for and gain better jobs. We have helped family members who were in abusive situations to find solutions so all can live in dignity. We have helped parents gain control of their lives so they can lead more loving families. We have helped families keep their lights on and keep their homes. We have been able to achieve these milestones because of your generosity, as well as the wide range of relationships we have developed with parishes and other community partners. Thank you for your time, for your continuing prayers for our efforts and for those we serve, for your consideration, and for your generosity. May our Lord Jesus Christ be with you and all those you hold dear. Have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
