Teaching in Timor Leste

Is it East Timor or Timor-Leste? The -Leste part is a Portuguese-derived term meaning East and its position after the word Timor is consistent with the rules of both Portuguese and the national language Tetun. It s what the Timorese government calls itself. Despite the fact that Leste is a word of Portuguese origin and Portuguese remains an official language of Timor-Leste this is very much a local word. Second, it s what the Australian government now officially calls the country, the name switch coming during Bob Carr s tenure as Foreign Minister. Used more frequently since Independence in 2002. http://blogs.crikey.com.au/fullysic/2013/12/06/whats-in-a-name-for-the-timorese-quite-a-lot/
East Timor Teacher Placement Program (ETTPP) The main purpose is expressed in two goals: To improve the teaching of English and Mathematics in the schools of Timor-Leste To equip the Timorese teachers with whom we work with the skills to become mentors and eventually trainers to their colleagues. The aims and objectives: To provide skilled volunteers to work with teachers from the Manufahi District in English as a foreign language To build the capacity of local teachers in their understanding of current Mathematics teaching practices To build long term, sustainable programs through the development of local expertise To develop a friendship and solidarity between people, schools and communities in Australia and Timor Leste To provide a significant professional learning experience for volunteer teachers from Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Broken Bay and Parramatta, which can educate and enrich their own school communities To further the Catholic Church s teaching in mission and social justice
A fair go for East Timor As one of Asia's poorest nations, East Timor will rely on outside help for many years. The infrastructure is poor and the country is drought-prone. However, vast offshore oil and gas fields in the Timor Sea hold much potential. East Timor and Australia have agreed to share revenues from the reserves. As a part of the deal, a decision on the disputed maritime border in the area was deferred. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-14919009
Closing Prayer Prov. 29:25 'You need a miracle tomorrow'
You never know when God is going to bless you!!
Good things happen when you least expect them to!!!!!!!!
Dear Lord, I thank You for this day,
I thank you for my being able to see and to hear this morning.
I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God.
You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.
Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.
I ask now for Your forgiveness.
Please keep me safe from all danger and harm.
Help me to start this day with a new attitude & plenty of gratitude.
Let me make the best of each and every day
to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.
Please broaden my mind
that I can accept all things..
Let me not whine and whimper
over things I have no control over.
And give me the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits..
I know that when I can't pray,
You listen to my heart.
Continue to use me to do Your will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak...
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.
I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way.
I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood.
I pray for those who don't know You intimately.
I pray for those that don't believe.
But I thank You that I believe
that God changes people and God changes things.
I pray for all my sisters and brothers.
For each and every family member in their households.
I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes;
that they are out of debt and all their needs are met
I pray that every eye that reads this
knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God.
Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight.
I pray that these words be received
into the hearts of every eye that sees it.
In Jesus' name I offer this prayer. Amen!
