Jules had gone to the hospital on Wednesday and finally had her baby on Friday. I went immediately to the hospital upon receiving such great news. I have taken picture of the new dad. I also prayed for the new mom s speedy recovery. She was supposed to have been discharged from the hospital on Sunday, but on Sunday morning, I got a call from Paul that the baby had to be treated since he had a jaundice and had to get a sublingual operation. While the baby stayed at the hospital for treatment, Jules was able to finally come home on Monday. I remembered that my youngest daughter had to stay at the hospital because she had a jaundice and my son had had a sublingual operation when he was young. Rather than coming back home with the baby immediately, it would seem better to identify the problem early on and get the treatment quickly. However, it would have been tough for the first-time parents to come back home without their baby. As I spoke with Jules over the phone and comforted her, she was soon in tears. Even though it was not something serious, I understood that as a parent, one would be deeply concerned. As I was comforting the parents further, they expressed their gratitude that they were able to be comforted in this way. As you can see, it takes a lot for a new life to be coming into the world. We should be thankful that our children grow up healthy. If your child is sick, you would not be joyful or comforted by any money, promotions at work, or reputation. There is an old friend of mine whom I love and respect. His child is currently in the hospital, recovering from an operation; he got hurt in a car accident. As I was praying at church this morning, I thought him and his wife, who would probably be looking after their child desperately. I will pray for them together. God loves the child. Whether it be ShinWoo or my friend s child, I strongly believe that God is taking care of them. They will soon recover and grow up as children of God. I also believe that God is looking after all of us. Let us not forget and fail to appreciate that He will give us the health and strength to live on. Paul, Jules, and my beloved friend, I will pray for you. Jesus loves them much more than you love them! Rev. Jinkook Lee What s Inside? November 2017 Advent Adult Sunday School Starting Dec 3rd- Luke Just in time to begin our season of Advent, the adult Sunday School Class is starting to go through the Gospel of Luke. This follows nicely from Acts as we can see how this Gospel leads to the new church we met in Acts- also written by Luke. Even more great is this is the Gospel many of us really associate with Christmas as it is the one Linus reads in Charlie Brown s Christmas which has touched so many of our hearts. Come join us and hear this wonderful story again. 11:30 AM on Sundays 585.334.1180 174 Pinnacle Road, Rochester NY 14623 email: office@faithumcny.org Page 2
In Faith November 2017 Taking a moment to look back at the mission our church has been a partner in Flower City Habitat for Humanity Flower City Habitat for Humanity (FCHH) was founded in 1984 by Roger Cross. They have built or renovated over 200 homes in Rochester. The goal is to join FCHH in giving a hand up not a hand out. In the FCHH Homebuyer Program, low income families work sweat hours and then build a house with volunteers from the community. Families purchase homes from FCHH with a no profit mortgage. The payments of this mortgage are combined with donor money to help fund other FCHH homes and projects in the Rochester area. These are the houses that is was our privilege to help God build. Let s all say a prayer for the families that make them home. 585.334.1180 174 Pinnacle Road, Rochester NY 14623 email: office@faithumcny.org Page 3
