(2X5=10) 1 The vegetation that grow without the help of the human being is called natural vegetation. The two responsible factors for the growth of thevegetation are thickness of the soil/ slop / moisture / temperature. 2 The citrus fruits are cultivated in the Mediterranean type of climate, hot dry summer and mild rainy winter. 3 Media refers to all types of ways through which messages are transmitted, which includes a phone call to the evening news on the TV. Example of print media : news paper/ magazine and electronic media : TV/ mobile. 4 Nayanars were the devotee of Shiva, they were 63 Nayanars. Alvars were the devotee of Vishnu, they were 12 Alvars. 5 Weather Condition of the atmosphere at a given place over a short period of time. It can be windy, cloudy etc. Climate : Condition of the weather over a longer period of time. It can be summer, winter,monsoon. III (3X5=15) ANSWER THE FOLLOWING IN SHORT. 1 The three saints of Maharashtra : Namdev/ Janeshwar /Eknaath / Tukaram. 2 Independent media is free from any control and influence for its coverage of news. It is important in a democracy so that the information is reliable and not biased.

3 Grasslands : They occur either side of the equator and extend till the tropics, they are found where the rainfall is moderate, good for cattle rearing. Tundra type of vegetation : They are found in cold areas of Europe,Asia and North America, Vegetation is short, Eg. Mosses and lichens. 4 Kabir was one of the most influential saints of 16 th century. He was brought up in a Muslim julaha family. He had rejected the traditional ideas of the religions. He strongly condemned the caste system. He believed in only one formless Supreme God. He said that salvation can be attained only through bhakti or devotion. 5 Give Reason : a) On a humid ay, the air is full of water vapours. The capacity to hold moisture decreases, so wet clothes take longer time to dry. b) Places near the equator receive direct sunrays, while places near the poles receive slanting rays which has less intensity of heat. Hence the amount of insolation decreases from equator towards poles. IV (5X2=10) ANSWER THE FOLLOWING IN DETAIL. 1 a) Sufis were Muslim mystics. Some of the Sufi saints of Chishti silslia were Khwaja Muin ud din Chishti of Ajmer, Baba Farid of Punjab, Qutb ud din Bkhtiar. (any 2) b) Sufis had rejected the idea of outward religiousness. They stressed on love and devotion to God, and sympathy and compassion towards all human beings. They composed poems, prose to express their views by zikr. 2 a) Mass media are expensive due to the different technologies used by them, such as Lights, cameras, sound recorders, transmission satellites etc. which cost a lot of money. Also they need to pay number of people who help put the broadcast together. They are earning lot of money through big business houses. b) Different things we enjoy watching TV are World news/ Entertainment channels for Cartoons or movies / different advertisements/sports/ Musical shows etc. ( any 3 )
