Happy New Year! So, what is your big project for 2019? Have you thought about your goals you plan to achieve in 2019? My big goal planned for 2019 will be to get ordained! I will submit all the papers by Jan. 7 and have an interview between March 10-12. If I pass the interview, I will be officially ordained at the Annual Conference in June. If I fail, I will be doing the same work at the end of 2019 again. (Doesn t sound so nice, does it?) So if I pass, 2019 will be a monumental year for me to remember. (And if I fail, still it will be a monumental year just in a different (or in other words, horrible) way.) Also, I started taking piano lessons that I quit about 25 years ago. So my next big project for 2019 is to become a pianist with a little more skills to play beautiful classics. With my stubby fingers, I expect this to be a bumpy road, but at least for now, I am very much enjoying the lessons with beautiful classical pieces. Someday I might be able to play a beautiful piece during our service! One of the projects for our church for 2019 is to have a Disciples Bible Study. I know you ve had it before and many of you have fond memories of the study. This is one of the best kind of Bible Studies that has been loved by many people for years. I hope many of you can commit yourself this time to study the word of God in a deeper level with this Bible study. It will be almost a year-long commitment (38 wks), but you won t regret joining the Bible study. There will be an announcement about the Bible Study in the church bulletin, website, and Facebook page. Look forward to it! So, what are your goals you plan to achieve for 2019? My prayer for us these days is to know what plans God has for us. I can plan, you can plan, but the most important thing is what is God s plan for us. The writer of the Book of Proverbs said, We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it. (Proverbs 16:9, Message) What we plan to do is up to God who enables us to live it. May God grant us the life that God wants us to live out this year. Oh! I also have another big plan I am going to achieve. I am visiting Korea for two weeks! From January 24 to February 6, I will be visiting Korea. (Unfortunately, Alexa will not go with me. She needs to go to school, and we have two cats and a dog to take care of.) 2019 is the 10th anniversary of my mom s death, and the place where my mom s urn is placed needs to renew every ten years, which only direct family can do. So I will be visiting Korea to take care of this, and of course, I will enjoy all the things I missed so much, such as food, family, friends, etc. For the past 8 years, I have visited Korea only once in 2015, so I am kind of really thrilled to see the changes in Korea. May God s love and blessings continue to be poured upon you and your family in 2019! I pray and hope all of you have a year full of happiness, excitement, and joy! Sincerely, Sophia.
