FROM THE PRESBYTERS DESK My beloved ones in Christ, Our life today is undergoing radical transition both in the individual and corporate realm. Anxiety is the order of the day. People want to earn everything for them. This creates serious problems in the society. Many of our fellow human beings are suffering. It is in this context the biblical concept, Sharing or giving assumes importance. The Old Testament and New Testament talk about a generous God, who is willing to give himself for the welfare of humankind. Giving comes out of love and compassion. Jesus fed and healed people out of his compassion towards them. He taught us how to share and vehemently against wealth accumulation. The parable of Good Samaritan clearly teaches this. The Samaritan belonged to a religious tradition despised by the Jews. He showed mercy to the injured man on the way and saved his life. The Samaritan shared his time and money to save this man. He even risked his life to save the stranger in need. Genuine sharing can takes place only out of compassion Thus Christian sharing must be initiated by love towards others. Such sharing must be a giving without expecting anything in return. Our God is a giving God. Giving is central to Gods economy. For God so loved the world that he gave His only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Therefore Christian experience is a giving experience. So our God is challenging us to give the best for the welfare of others. And God is able to provide you with every blessing and He loves a cheerful giver. Yours in Christ John Mathai Achen A Father s Day Tribute By Remya Joseph Father s Day is a special day to celebrate and thank all of our wonderful dads! We may take them out to dinner, shower them with gifts, behave for the day, spend good quality time with them, remember past events or all the above. Not only should we thank our dads on Father s Day, but every day! From the very moment we are born our fathers are there to protect and provide for us. The love of a father never diminishes and I feel extremely lucky to experience that each day. My dad has numerous great qualities; however, a few that stand out include his giving nature, compassion, strength and wisdom. By watching my dad s interactions with others, I am able to emulate his mannerisms and treat others with kindness and love. I learned to treat others with respect and help those in need whenever I was able to. My dad s compassion is something I cannot comprehend! He is always supporting my family in any way that he can, no matter how he is feeling. I know most people will agree that dads are full of wisdom and strength. I m always happily surprised by the random facts I learn from my dad, whether it s advice about life, news going on in the world or how to ix something around the house. I will continue to cherish my dad today and always! (contd.)
Daddy, Daddy you re so strong Each day you teach me right from wrong Thank you for all that you do Your strength keeps our family together like gorilla glue You re always there to push me forward When life s obstacles get me cornered Each day you give me a reason to smile Your loving nature makes life worthwhile Wherever I am and whatever I do I know you ll always love me your little loo You re the greatest dad in the entire universe You are a gift, not a curse I LOVE YOU!
