All: Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, those he redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. One: Let us praise the Lord, our rock and redeemer. *Opening Hymn: Jesus, Thy Boundless Love to Me #366 Presbyterian Hymnal Call to Confession Silent Confession Corporate Confession Holy One, in you we live, and move, and have our being. Yet sometimes we live as if our lives are our own: we give our hearts to values other than those of your Kingdom; we give our minds to desires other than those of your will. Forgive us, o God. Renew us in the grace of Christ, that we might begin to imagine the breadth of your love, as we seek to take up our cross and follow your Son. In Christ's name we pray, amen. The Session met on Tuesday 27 February 2018. Pastor Evan opened the meeting with a devotional and prayer. Pastor Evan said that he was going to start up the Bible Study series beginning March 19th and that it would be covering the Book of Revelation. The Bible Study will be on Monday evenings from 7:00PM until 8:15PM. Pastor Evan said that in addition to home/hospital visits he was also able to conduct a few home communions. Pastor Evan will be out of town for the next two Sundays. We will be having a communion service on March 11, 2018. The upcoming calendar of events was reviewed. The Finish the Race program will kick off on March 1, 2018. This program is loosely based on the Run For God program done by other area churches. In the area of finance, the church van received some much needed repairs. The total cost was 1,299.05. LPC will be doing another BBQ Chicken fundraiser on 23 March 2018. This will be a pre-sell dinner for takeout only. The contact person is: Cindy Fish. The Session agreed that we need to look at the Meet & Greet time at the beginning of the worship service and see if we can better use this time while making sure we still reach out to guests and visitors. The Session also discussed updating the old phone tree concept to include email "blasts" to better get out information to members about upcoming events and other news. If you are not getting the emails see Amy Bates. The Session will again meet on March 27th. The meetings are open and members are welcome to attend. Our first song today is called I Am by Mark Schultz. This wonderful song reminds us that Jesus fulfills many purposes, each specific to the person in need. Listen carefully! During the offering the choir will sing At Your Feet which has been recorded by Casting Crowns. Are you willing to lay your life down at the feet of Jesus? This is a very appropriate song for you as you prepare to receive the sacrament of communion. In the Presbyterian Church there are just two sacraments, communion and baptism. Prepare your heart to receive the sacrament today. WELCOME TODAY Today we welcome Petra Wahnefried. Petra is an ordained Teaching Elder and a board certified chaplain, serving as a hospital chaplain with Atrium Health. Petra is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Health at the University of South Carolina. Evan & Lauren are in Washington, DC. Evan ran his first marathon yesterday!!! We look forward to having Evan back next Sunday. CONGREGATIONAL LIFE Congregation Life meeting on Tuesday, March 13th at 6:30 to discuss picnics, Bible School and other potential get-together ideas. Please see Dianne Haggerty or Jane Blackman for more information. YOUTH GROUP Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers--come hang out for some fellowship and dinner on Tuesday, March 13 from 5:30-7:00 in the Youth Room. Invite your friends, all are welcome! BIBLE STUDY We will be beginning our bible study studying the Book of Revelation on Monday, March 19 at 7:00pm. Come discover the saving power of the Christ on the cross as we explore the cryptic and dramatic world depicted in the Apocalypse of Jesus Christ. FINISH THE RACE Join in a healthy challenge of body and spirit in this 12 week journey guided by Run for God as we reflect on scripture and train together to run or walk a 5k. The race will be on June 1 at 6:30 in Locust Town Center, and we began our weekly devotional and practice together March 1 at 6:30.
