GATHERING SONG Behold Our God Words and Music: Jonathan Baird, Meghan Baird, Ryan Baird, Stephen Altrogge Who has held the oceans in His hands? Who has numbered every grain of sand? Kings and nations tremble at His voice, All creation rises to rejoice. Who has given counsel to the Lord? Who can question any of His words? Who can teach the One who knows all things? Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds? Behold our God, seated on His throne. Come let us adore Him! Behold our King, nothing can compare, Come let us adore Him! Who has felt the nails upon His hands, Bearing all the guilt of sinful man? God eternal humbled to the grave, Jesus, Savior, risen now to reign! Behold our God, seated on His throne. Please take a moment to fill out the information card in your bulletin, providing any information to enable us to better serve you. When you finish, place your card in offering tray as it passes or on your seat after the service. PREPARATION for WORSHIP Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (*Indicates where congregation is invited to stand, as able) *CALL to WORSHIP Psalm 34:1-3 WORSHIPING GOD S GREATNESS Minister: Congregation: Minister: Congregation: I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continuously be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord. Let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together! 3

*SONG of ADORATION Our God Our Help in Ages Past (Hymn #30, Verses 1, 2, 3, 4, 7) Words: Isaac Watts (Based on Psalm 90) Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home! Under the shadow of Your throne Your saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is Your arm alone, And our defense is sure. Before the hills in order stood, Or earth received her frame, From everlasting You are God, To endless years the same. A thousand ages in Your sight Are like an evening gone; Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun. Our God our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, O be our guard while troubles last, And our eternal home. 4

*PRAYER of INVOCATION ACKNOWLEDGING GOD S GRACE *CONFESSION of FAITH Westminster Confession 8.1 It pleased God, in His eternal purpose, To choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, His only begotten Son, To be the Mediator between God and man, The Prophet, Priest, and King, The Head and Savior of His church, The Heir of all things, and Judge of the world, Unto whom He did from all eternity Give a people to be His seed, And to be by Him in time Redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified. 5

CONFESSION of SIN from Daniel 9 Minister: Congregation: I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with Him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: O Lord, the great and awesome God, Who keeps His covenant of love with all who love Him and obey His commands, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from Your commands and laws. The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against Him; we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws He gave us through His servants the prophets. Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servants. We do not make requests of You because we are righteous, but because of Your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, do not delay, because Your people bear Your Name. Amen ASSURANCE of PARDON for BELIEVERS Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. 6

SONG of RENEWAL Jesus, Lover of My Soul Words: Charles Wesley Music: Greg Thompson Jesus, lover of my soul, Let me to Thy bosom fly, While the nearer waters roll, While the tempest still is high. Hide me, O my Savior, hide, Til life s storm is past; Safe into the haven guide; Receive my soul at last. Other refuge have I none, I helpless, hang on Thee; Leave, oh leave me not alone, Support and comfort me. All my trust on Thee is stayed, All help from Thee I bring; Cover my defenseless head In the shadow of Thy wing. Thou, O Christ, are all I want, Here more than all I find; Raise the fallen, cheer the faint, Heal the sick, and lead the blind. Just and holy is Thy Name, I am all unrighteousness; False and full of sin I am; Thou art full of truth and grace. Plenteous grace with Thee is found, Grace to cover all my sin; Let the healing streams abound; Make and keep me pure within. Thou of life the fountain art, Let me take of Thee; Spring Thou up within my heart; For all eternity. 7

*SONG of COMMITMENT Jesus Cast a Look On Me Words: John Berridge Music: Matthew Perryman Jones Jesus cast a look on me, Give me sweet simplicity Make me poor and keep me low, Seeking only Thee to know All that feeds my busy pride, Cast it evermore aside Bid my will to Thine submit, Lay me humbly at Thy feet Make me like a little child, Of my strength and wisdom spoiled Seeing only in Thy light, Walking only in Thy might Leaning on Thy loving breast, Where a weary soul may rest Feeling well the peace of God, Flowing from His precious blood In this posture let me live, And hosannas daily give In this temper let me die, And hosannas ever cry! 9

EMBRACING GOD S WORD *READING and PREACHING of GOD S WORD John 1:29-51 *SONG of RESPONSE Lead On, O King Eternal (Hymn #580) Words and Music: Ernest W. Shurtleff and Henry Smart Lead on, O King eternal, the day of march has come; henceforth in fields of conquest Thy tents will be our home. Through days of preparation Thy grace has made us strong; and now, O King eternal, we lift our battle song. Lead on, O King eternal, till sin's fierce war shall cease, and holiness shall whisper the sweet amen of peace. For not with swords' loud clashing nor roll of stirring drums but deeds of love and mercy the heavenly kingdom comes. Lead on, O King eternal; we follow, not with fears, for gladness breaks like morning where'er Thy face appears. Thy cross is lifted o'er us, we journey in its light; the crown awaits the conquest; lead on, O God of might. 10

Prayer for Those Searching for Truth Lord Jesus, You claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following You as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what You claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and show me the reality of who You are. Amen. Prayer of Belief Heavenly Father, I admit that I am more sinful than I ever before believed, but, through Your Son Jesus, I can be more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank You that He lived the life I should have lived, and paid the debt and punishment I deserved. Receive me now for His sake. I turn from my sins and receive Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Amen. Prayer for Those Struggling with Sin Lord Jesus, help me to look to You as the fulfillment of all my needs, and to turn from every false satisfaction to feed on You, the true and living bread. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so closely, and run with perseverance the race set before me, looking to You, the pioneer and perfecter of my faith. Amen. Prayer of Commitment Lord Jesus, You have called us to follow You in a life of committed discipleship in Your church. Grant that I may take the necessary steps to be one with Your people, and live in the fullness of Your Spirit. Amen 14
