Holy Night while the congregation held lit canwe hope everyone had an enjoyable and dles at the close of the service. The remainder of memorable experience as we celebrated the this service included the stories of the origins of coming of the Christ child and the beginning of several other familiar Christmas Carols as we the season we call Christmastide with our sang all verses of each carol. Christmas Eve Services this year! At the 5:00 p.m. service, we were blessed with the children bringing forth new Chrismons that transformed our Christmas Tree this year into a Chrismon Tree. Chrismon simply means monogram of Christ and represents simple Christian symbols. Thus, when they are placed on a Christmas Tree, they transform the tree into a Chrismon Tree. Pictured with this article is a photo of the Chrismon Tree and also a photo of our children singing A Christmas Medley under the direction of our Music Director, Andrew Schmidt. For the service, everyone had a copy of the manuscript that can serve as a keepsake as the meaning behind each new symbol was explained. Additional copies of this manuscript are still available if anyone would want a copy to pass along to other friends or family members. At the 7:00 p.m. Christmas Candlelight Service, The services were also blessed by special songs that Gayle Gentry and the choir presented as special music. The offering received at each service will go toward the assistance of individuals and families in need through the pastor s emergency fund. Attendance was very strong at both services totaling more than three hundred worshippers combined. As the New Year will be fast approaching, we hope you have had a most memorable Christmas as we also pray for a good start for you and your family in this New Year of 2019. Please remember that there are a number of our families in need of prayer and support as they are facing significant concerns, but wherever the new year may lead us, may we experience great comfort as we rejoice in the truth that Christ s presence with us here on earth has revealed to all humanity that God s love is indeed great! (continued on page 2)

Page 2 (continued from page 1) Blessings to each of you as the New Year of 2019 will soon be with us! Pastor Dennis HELP FOR THE JACOBO FAMILY Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. Acts 20:28 ESV One of our own families could sure use our help. Certainly in many ways but here s one way for those inspired to cook can contribute toward the love and care of the Jacobo family. The freezer in the Elevator Room, the only storage room directly off the Fellowship Hall, is now available for those who would like to give a casserole, some soup or stew to name just a few. Having the freezer available will hopefully make it convenient to bring items to church. You need not worry about getting your gift to the Jacobos, just wrap it for freezing, make a note that it s for the Jacobos and tell what is inside and the rest will be taken care of. It s a big family but don t let that prevent you from contributing for whatever you can share will be enjoyed and greatly appreciated. You can also make a donation of paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels and Kleenex tissues, which would be helpful. These items can be put on the labeled shelves in the Elevator Room. CONGRATULATIONS to Trevan & Emma Hiatt (our custodians) and big sister Charlie on the arrival of new baby Eleanor Ruth on Thursday, December 13th. TURKEY NOODLE LUNCH Our January Turkey Noodle Lunch will be hosted by the Property Committee to say Thanks for all the help everyone provided during the Annual ELDERS & DEACONS FOR 2019: There will be Turkey Dinner this year. THANK YOU! P a g e 9 Dear Church Family, A very belated Thank You for the many cards sent to me as I went from Rehab care for 12 weeks and then back home with care and back to the hospital again. Now I am at Linden Woods for assisted living. Although I was preferring my house, my family preferred assisted living as well as no more auto. I was thinking all purpose was gone until Hanomi met at my apartment & Northland Assistance is keeping me on the board, & they are picking me up as well as my favorite Genealogy group DAR, so some purpose has returned in my life (other than church and family of course). Thank you for the many cards and phone calls as well as visits and prayers. In Christian Love, Freddie Barry Christian Church~ A huge thank you for all your support this Thanksgiving. Each and every receiving family was so very grateful. We really appreciate your generosity. See you next year!
