Along the Way Wow! Can you believe it has already been a year since my family and I moved to Pace and began serving here at FUMC of Pace. We ve been blessed and look forward to our upcoming year together. Don t forget I m available for coffee every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. or any weekday for lunch or dinner. I d love to get a chance to sit down and get to know everyone a little bit better. A reminder that next week we ll be celebrating the Fourth of July with A Patriotic Celebration presented by our Chancel Choir beginning at 10:00 a.m.. The annual July 4th Picnic will immediately follow the service. Don t forget to bring a dish to share. The final four weeks of July, I will be talking more about what it means to be a Christian atheist and what we can do to make sure we are not living like one. WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN ATHEIST? The words almost contradict each other, right? I mean how can someone be a Christian and an atheist? But if you think about it, a lot of us are Christian Atheists because we believe in God but live as if He doesn't exist. The reality is we can say we believe in God and Jesus but if we re not reading His word, pursuing him and regularly attending church, we may very well be living as a Christian Atheist. The Bible says in Romans that once we have faith in Christ we are dead to sin and alive to God. So why would we want to keep sinning if we have faith in Christ, who ultimately conquered sin and death? Check out what Paul says in Romans 6; "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." Romans 6:1-4 ESV

If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight. If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy. If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty. If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient. If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence. If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice. If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith. If a child lives with approval he learns to like himself. If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world.
