Spring 2019 Volunteer Help Needed You may sign up at the links below or in the library. Club CPC Desserts: tiny.cc/cpcdessertsspring2019 Club CPC Cooking/Cleaning: tiny.cc/cookcleanspring2019 MEALS Jan 16 - Walking Tacos Middle School Jan 23 - Breakfast for The middle school youth group sponsored a family from Youth and Shelter Services for Christmas. On Wednesday, November 28th, the group went shopping at Target for needed winter clothing items, personal hygiene items and small gifts for four children in the Ames area. This night is always a highlight of the year. The youth are always very excited to shop for others and pick out the perfect item of clothing or gift. This is one way CPC is able to teach our young Christians a very concrete way of living out our faith and helping our neighbor. A special thanks to the Presbyterian Women for the funds to be able to do this mission project. Dinner Jan 30 - Spaghetti & Meatballs Club CPC On Wednesday, November 28th, the Club CPC children packed 60 Christmas bags for Northminster Presbyterian Church s Shared Blessings pantry. These bags are for children ages 0-10 and include items like hats, mittens, shampoo, toothbrushes, facial tissues, coloring items and a small toy. A special thanks to congregation members who donated generously to this mission project. SAVE THE DATE for VBS 2019 While it might seem early to be planning, Vacation Bible School is too important to wait! Please mark your calendars for June 24-28, 2019, from 9 am to noon for CPC s To Mars and Beyond VBS. Children ages 3 (and potty trained) through those finishing 5th grade are invited to join us as we explore where God s power can take us. Along the way, they ll learn how God walked with heroes of the Bible, and that God is always with them, too. Children will discover how they can go beyond with faith, boldness, kindness, thankfulness and hope. Relevant music, exciting science, creative crafts, fun recreation, and memorable Bible stories will help kids discover the wonders of God s universe! This fun filled week takes many, many, MANY hands. Middle and high school youth as well as adults are welcome to join us in our fun adventure. Questions or want to volunteer? Talk to Betsy (betsy.thompson@cpcames.org) or 515-292-2063.

Talent Show So, you think you can dance? Or sing? Or play the accordion? Then get to practicing so you can dazzle your CPC family with your amazing skills! Our annual whole church talent show will be Sunday, February 24th at 10 AM in the Social Hall. Please sign up in the office or by contacting Julie Erkel Hagee (julie@cpcames.org). Summer Camp at Lakeshore Center at Okoboji Summer is not that far away and I want to make sure you have every opportunity to get your child (and maybe yourself) signed up for summer camp! There are many great sessions to pick from for children pre-school and up! There are opportunities for families and grandparents to go to camp as well. Please check out the link below and hopefully you can find one that fits your needs. Our Presbyterian Women generously provide camperships of half the cost of camp up to $150. (For a $200 camp, they will pay $100. For a $450 camp, they will pay $150).To apply for this campership, please contact Nancy Applequist at (nappleq@gmail.com). Additionally, the Lakeshore Center has lots of scholarship money available and can be requested directly through them. Please don't let finances keep you away if this is something your child/youth is interested in doing! http://tiny.cc/camperships2019 C P C S TA F F Brett Becker Pastor/Head of Staff drb@cpcames.org Betsy Thompson Children & Youth Pastor betsy.thompson@cpcames.org Julie Erkel Hagee Director of Campus Ministry & Adult Spiritual Formation julie@cpcames.org Doug Sweeney Choir Director dsweeney@carrolltigers.org Jen McClung Contemporary Music Leader Laura LaGrange Organist laura.lagrange@cpcames.org Jenny Foley Business Administrator jenny.foley@cpcames.org Victoria Knight Secretary/Graphic Artist secretary@cpcames.org
