Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light until my path. Psalm 119:105 Jn January 2019 It is always amazing (at least to me) that we re beginning another new year. Without a doubt, 2018 was filled with joy AND sorrow, pain AND pleasure. And the best thing to remember is this: That God was with us every step of the way! Each day God provided grace, love, blessings AND more. What should we expect in 2019? I, for one, want to get to January 1, 20 20 and look back and know that expectations have been exceeded. So, what should we expect of ourselves? What does God expect of us? Those are challenging questions, but remember that God exceeds all of our expectations. Read it yourself: Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine... Eph 3:20 The truth is, 2019 won t be any different than the start of any year. However, new beginnings can remind us that we have limitations and we need to trust in God alone. It is God who knows the future...and Our beginning and all the moments until our end. It is appropriate to ask WHO holds the new year in His hands? Our challenge is this: How do we look at 2019 and have focus AND faith rather than fear? How do we keep from being distracted from the path God has planned for us? Focus Faith Determination Perseverance Commitment All these things will keep us near enough to hear; we ve got to be ready to listen. A.D. 2019 is a lot like A.D. 19 a year in which Jesus of Nazareth was learning the follow the Word of God in his life. Jesus learned to trust God, and so can we...so MUST we! Dear Ones, while our lives are full of the unexpected, nothing takes our Lord by surprise. God has everything under control and possesses total knowledge. So, whatever happens this year, let s practice studying God s word for guidance, praising God in thanksgiving and sharing the marvelous God we serve at PPUMC and beyond. We can expect God s promises to sustain us. So Happy 2019! May the Lord bless you and keep you. And to God be the glory this year and always. I m blessed to be in ministry with you at Pikes Peak UMC. Pastor Dea 1

UMW Dorothy s Circle Pikes Peak United Methodist Church December The December 6th meeting of the UMW Dorothy Circle met at 11:30 in Gamber Hall at Church for our traditional Christmas luncheon! In the last years, we have met at President LaVada Brown s home, which was greatly appreciated! This year 13 ladies were able to attend, with Pastor Dea doing the decorating and bringing the entrée while all the other ladies brought side dishes of salads, desserts and hors d`oeuvres! It was a feast! And a wonderful time of fellowshipping! Pastor Dea took photos of the group as we gathered `round the Christmas tree! After the meal we were encouraged to share our most memorable Christmas tree ornament, where and when we received it and why it is so important to us! Lots of happy memories were shared, some bringing a loving tear while others brought laughter, what a delightful time we had. Thanks to each and every woman who was able to attend the luncheon, we look forward to the coming year with joy and anticipation for the work ahead our UMW will be involved in.
