JANUARY 2019/TEVET /SHEVAT 5779 PAGE 4 LESSONS FROM RABBI SCOTT ROLAND Rabbi Irving Yitzchak Greenberg once famously said, I don't care what denomination you belong to, as long as you're embarrassed by it. I heard these words echoed recently by one of our congregants who told me, Shaarey Tikvah is a family. Sometimes family drives you crazy. What both of these wise sages understand is that when you truly love something, or someone, the little things can be enormously irksome. However, the right kind of communication coupled with the assumption that everyone is acting in the best interest of the relationship, makes for much stronger bonds. As we begin 2019, I encourage us to take notice of the blessings of faith and community. If as you do so you feel like you need an open heart and a listening ear, please do give me a call. Here s to a healthy and prosperous 2019 for each of us and our sacred community!
