Mary The Dilemma of Saying Yes: Finding peace when we join God s story

Dilemma: A difficult situation or problem

Henry Blackaby (pastor, author of Experiencing God): Find out where God is at work and join Him.

Luke 1:26-38 26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!

29 Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 Don t be afraid, Mary, the angel told her, for you have found favor with God! 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!

34 Mary asked the angel, But how can this happen? I am a virgin. 35 The angel replied, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. 36 What s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age!

People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. 37 For the word of God will never fail. 38 Mary responded, I am the Lord s servant. May everything you have said about me come true. And then the angel left her.

Mary asked the angel, But how can this happen? I am a virgin. -Luke 1:34

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

13 I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me. 14 The LORD is my strength and my defense [a] ; he has become my salvation. Psalm 118:13-14

Discerning how we can join: Find out what God has already said Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Discerning how we can join: Pray and ask God to speak to you Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hiding things that you have not known. Jeremiah 33:3

Discerning how we can join: Seek wise counsel from trusted advisors Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed. Proverbs 15:22

Discerning how we can join: What do you want to do? Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Discerning how we can join: What are the circumstances of the current situation? Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, nd the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knows it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

ave you said yes to God s grace and the gift of His Son? Have you said yes to living a transformed life, ot looking behind you but living for God s glory? Will you join me in looking for ways to say yes to being part of God
