The joy in the eyes of children as they open gifts, and the joy of giving to others. Christmas can soften the hardest of hearts. Help greet, prepare a meal, share a smile or stay overnight during the Men s Warm Nights winter shelter being held at First Church 12/9-12/15? Interested, see Russ Wilson or the information in the grand entrance. Invite others to come and hear our choir share wonderful Christmas music on Saturday, December 15 at 6pm! Write a Christmas card to a friend or a family member you haven t spoken with in a while Bring a family member, friend, co-worker, neighbor, acquaintance to enjoy our Children s Christmas program on Sunday, December 23 at both the 8:30 and 11am services. Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something! Interested? FUMCL Youth will be participating in ROCK this year! Please let Russ Wilson know if you are able to attend ASAP! The dates are February 8-10 th in Ocean City MD. Upcoming Events and Opportunities to Serve- December 9 th - Youth will prepare dinner for the men s homeless shelter. Be at church by 5:30pm, parents are invited to help. Each Youth needs to bring a desert and we will need at least 3 mixed salads. Everything else will be provided to cook. December 22 nd Youth Bowling Party & White Elephant Exchange from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Meet at Laurel Lanes and bring a gift to exchange. This event is free with pizza included. February 8 th -10 th ROCK Youth Retreat Ocean City MD!!!! Youth & Chaperones will meet at FUMCL at 5pm with a bag dinner to eat on the way. Page 5

December is very close! We are getting ready for First United Methodist Church s Holiday Gift & Food Giving Program. We call it Angel Tree. We give gifts and food baskets to children and families. the community. Most of the friends we are helping are the children of incarcerated individuals. This is the Angel Tree program from Prison Fellowship Ministries. We have also help families through the holiday gift giving program at LARS and other families from The ages and needs/wishes of the children will be put on each Angel. If you desire to take an angel and buy these gifts, please do so. All gifts can be wrapped (or unwrapped). They need to be labeled with the child s name and assigned number. All gifts need to be brought to the church by Sunday, Dec. 9 th. The latest for any donations can be extended to Tuesday, December 11 th. We are also collecting food items for baskets. These are for the Christmas holidays. With each family, we give a collection of food and a turkey. Below is a list of items we will be collecting for the families. If you wish to buy any items on the list, please bring them to the church and leave them in the Narthex labeled, Angel Tree Food Basket donation. Please pray for our families and the children we serve through this program. Thank you, in advance for your generosity and support for these families.
