SAMI ROHR PRIZE FOR JEWISH LITERATURE The Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature, established in 007 by the Rohr family, honors the legacy of their patriarch, Sami Rohr z l who had a lifelong love of Jewish literature. The largest award of its kind in North America, $100,000 is presented to an emerging writer who demonstrates the potential for continued contribution to Jewish writing. Four additional authors are recipients of cash prizes each year and become Fellows in the Sami Rohr Jewish Literary Institute. Fiction and non-fiction books are considered in alternate years. Past winners have consistently reported that the prize has given them the time to pursue and complete additional writing projects. SAMI ROHR JEWISH LITERARY INSTITUTE In conjunction with the Sami Rohr Prize, the Sami Rohr Jewish Literary Institute a forum devoted to creating a Jewish literary community is a biennial gathering of the Sami Rohr winners, fellows, judges, and advisors. Writing can often be a lonely profession, and the Institutes create a platform for both established and emerging writers to meet, share, and network. Writers gather in large and small groups to discuss issues and problems coming up in their writing and to advise each other. The only gathering of its kind, the mentoring environment helps shape and inspire Jewish literary creativity into the future. Harris Diversifying the National We Marieke Dhont, Ph.D. (016), Université Catholique de Louvain and KU Leuven, is a understanding of the linguistic and stylistic diversity in the Septuagint corpus. To this end, the author innovatively uses Polysystem Theory, which has been developed in the field of modern literary studies.
