FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY Epiphany is the feast of all nations. Because on this day we celebrate the manifestation of Christ, the true light to all nations; calling us to become more and more filled with this light and to clothe our communities with the universality of this light. More importantly, we must labor even harder to bring the light to those who are still in darkness. We are baptized so we have the light of Christ, but too often think that is enough. We never get enough of Jesus! He is everything for our deepest and total need. Therefore until all of our needs are met, our quest for more must continue. Next Sunday January 13, 2019 Feast of the Baptism of the Lord Learn Swahili with Fr. Chumo Happy New Year! = Heri ya Mwaka Mpya! Mungu atulinde mwaka mpya = may God protect us in the new year. Mungu ni mwema = God is good Appreciation I want to thank everyone who helped in one way or other during the just concluded Christmas celebrations. The whole experience was joyful and uplifting. The following groups deserve mention for their service: The children and the youth who participated in the Christmas pageant, their families for helping them in the preparations, the Liturgical teams; decorators, the music ministry, cantors, ushers, the Evangelization team and other volunteers; thank you so very much for the job well done. I am sure there are those who do so much incognito; you too are appreciated and want you to continue to give glory to God and serve our parish community. We encourage parishioners to thank members of these teams for their service to our parish. May the joys of Christmas continue to help us bring the light of Christ into our lives. As bearers of light we are called to be beams of light in darkness and ray of hope in the midst of despair. We are so privileged to have received the light of faith. Again, asante sana to all! Hail, child Jesus! You have made a permanent dwelling in our midst. Thank you Jesus! OUR SANCTUARY LAMP WILL BURN THIS WEEK IN MEMORY OF MARY HANCY FROM HER FAMILY Christmas season concludes! In the very first chapter of the Gospel according to John, he says of Jesus Whatever came to be in Him, found life, life for the light of men. The light shines in darkness, a darkness that did not overcome it May the true light guide us all throughout 2019 and beyond. And, may they joys of Christmas continue to lead us into a deeper understanding of the love God has for us. You have the light. Let it shine through your life at all times! YOUTH CORNER Epiphany - an intuitive grasp of reality through something (such as an event) usually simple and striking. This is just one of the possible definitions of the word epiphany. In short, an epiphany is the realization of the importance of something or event. Some might even call it having an ah ha moment. Epiphany is the realization that God came to be with us in the person of Jesus. We also should not only celebrate Epiphany as a single event to mark the end to the Christmas season. Epiphany is something that should be lived and realized every day. We are all called to recognize the presence of Jesus in the daily events of our lives. In our family we sometimes ask each other where did you see Jesus today? Sometimes the responses are fairly typical but others are quite striking. Either way, the question forces us to recognize that Jesus is present and at work in the very basic to the very complicated parts of our day. We simply have to be aware. So, where have you seen Jesus, this month, this week, or today? Take the time to think about it. Then thank him for his presence in that time and for the grace to have recognized it.
