United Presbyterian Church of Plainfield, New Jersey July 2, 2017 Fourth Sunday after Pentecost THE GATHERING 10:30 AM OPENING HYMN GTG 337 My Country, Tis of Thee (verses 1,3,4) CALL TO WORSHIP We come in faith to worship God. We live by our faith in God s Son. Jesus loves us and gave his life for us. Thanksgiving and praise be to God! Let us worship God. UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION God of the prophets, we confess that we have failed to heed your word. You give the law as a guide for living, yet we use it to pass judgment on others. You give the gospel of forgiveness yet we are unwilling to forgive others. Forgive us, God of grace. Show us the limitations of our efforts, so that we may learn to trust in you and offer our lives to you in love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
