Proclamation Day 2016 Proclamation Day was observed on Tuesday 15 th Mar in the Old Borough National School at 11.00am. A lone piper led the pupils from their classrooms to the flag poll, where a new national flag was raised. He then piped the pupils up to the main hall in the school, where they joined with many parents and grandparents. The Rector introduced a short service of prayers which were led by Micael, Erica and Euan. Miss Moffett introduced and led the Lord s Prayer in Irish, and the Rector gave the blessing. The Proclamation was read by Nikita, Megan F, Matthew, Paul Megan N and Cathal. This was followed by an Irish dancing display by Mihaela & Kathryn, and Emily. All joined in the singing of Oró sé do Bheatha Bhaile, which was followed by more Irish dancing from Iuliana and Amber. After singing the national anthem, Amhrán na bhfiann, parents and grandparents were invited to remain on for refreshments, provided by the PTA. Congratulations to all who took part, and to the staff who organised everything so well. Unfortunately, the Principal, Ms Woods, was unable to attend, and we wish her a speedy recovery. A PARISH PRAYER The following prayer has been commissioned by the Pastoral Committee, Swords, for use in both Swords and Donabate. The intention of the prayer is to encourage a sense of moving forward together, and that it may add significantly to a sense of we-ness. It is hoped the prayer will be well received by all, and that from Easter Sunday will be used at all services, just before the blessing. Father, we pray for your blessing on our parish. Give each one who worships in this place, grace to grow in faith, that we may live and work to your glory. Fill us with your Holy Spirit and bind us together, that, in all we do, we may seek to build each other up in love. Be with us as we come together to give witness in our community. Help us to look beyond ourselves and to reach out to those in any kind of need; always remembering to put our trust in you. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
