Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Adult Education Opportunities The Marian Catechist classes meet monthly on the last Tuesday of the month with Msgr. Brovey for those who have finished that month s test. Test #1 will be covered on Tuesday 30 October at 7:00pm in the Lower Church. Sunday mornings with Sr. Margaret: Adult Education classes with Sr. Margaret are held at 10:15am in the parish hall. Classes will meet this Sunday, 28 October, 4 &11 November, 9 December. Wednesday Adoration & Confession Wednesday Eucharistic Adoration 12:30-8pm: Please note: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will following the 12:05 pm Mass and end at 6pm on Wednesday, 31 October due to Halloween and All Saints schedules. There will be no 7pm Confessions on 31 October. Adoration will conclude with Night Prayer and Benediction at 7:50 pm. Everyone is encouraged to sign up for a Holy Hour each Wednesday. Prayerfully consider signing up as a family to pray together before the Blessed Sacrament. Many blessings have been given to those who have made the commitment of a weekly Holy Hour before Our Lord s Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. A sign up sheet may be found near the elevator. Confessions: offered on Wednesdays at 12:45pm and 7pm in the upper Cathedral. There will no longer be 11:15 am Wednesday Confessions. Bishop s Annual Appeal progress: As of September 30, 2018, the BAA has collected over $3.9 million. Our parish has contributed $85,788.78 towards our goal of 66,979.00. This represents 128.08% of our goal from 18.36% of our registered families. The BAA provides funding for incredible programs and ministries doing critically important work in our diocese. This includes use of the church for Baptisms, Weddings and other Sacramental events, Godparent/Sponsor letters, and includes parishioner status in parochial schools. Active Membership is determined by four things: Being properly registered in the parish for a sufficient period of time. Faithful attendance at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days. Use of the envelope system in support of the parish. Being active in at least one parish program, ministry or organization. Sacrament of Marriage Either the bride or the groom must be a practicing Catholic and registered at the Cathedral for at least twelve months before scheduling a wedding date and beginning the six month marriage preparation. The bride/groom must be an active parishioner, regularly attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, and use of the envelope system in support of the parish.
