Zechariah 4:1-14 1 Then the angel who talked with me returned and woke me up, like someone awakened from sleep. 2 He asked me, What do you see? I answered, I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lamps on it, with seven channels to the lamps. 3 Also there are two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left. I asked the angel who talked with me, What are these, my lord? He answered, Do you not know what these are? No, my lord, I replied. 4
Zechariah 4:1-14 8 So he said to me, This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. (TONIGHT). What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground (TONIGHT). Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of God bless it! God bless it! Then the word of the Lord came to me: 9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel? 5

The solid gold lampstand symbolises the rebuilding of the church Hammered out of solid Gold The church not reformed will remain deformed 7 lamps = perfected church Revelation 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. 8

The rebuilding of the church 4. Distraction (Haggai 1:2-4) Obsession, preoccupation with own homes, jobs, wealth, life After the enemies attempt to stagnate and stop the church, the word of the Lord comes to encourage us to continue rebuilding and reforming. 13
The rebuilding of the church Stirring for a good work and a noble cause Haggai 1:14 So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God. Crux of church reformation and perfection King & Priest will do work of rebuilding the temple by the enabling of the Holy Spirit. 14
Zerubbabel King, leader, governor, prince 6 So he said to me, This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. The enabling power of the Holy Spirit gives us access, the might and power of the Lord Almighty for the Reformation of the church 15
Joshua High Priest Zechariah 6:9-15 9 The word of the Lord came to me: 10 Take silver and gold from the exiles who have arrived from Babylon. Go the same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah. 11 Take the silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jozadak. 12 Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says: Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord. 13 It is he who will build the temple of the Lord, and he will be clothed with majesty and will sit and rule on his throne. And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two. Don t wear the King s crown of thorns we will never wear King s crown of glory 16
Joshua High Priest Zechariah 6:9-15 15 Those who are far away will come and help to build the temple of the Lord, and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the Lord your God. The witness of the believer will bring those who are far away, the lost sheep, the other sheep to help build the church 17

3. The 7 lamps (candles) symbolise the Holy Spirit s work in the church The 7 fold Spirit Isaiah 11:1-3 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. The Holy Spirit alone is the church perfector 19

The 7 eyes of the Lord symbolise the 7 fold Holy Spirit throughout all the earth Revelation 5:6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the centre of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 21

The Capstone symbolises Jesus Christ, on who the church is built Zechariah 4:8-9 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. The work of the church rebuilding is in the hands of the believer Jesus is only foundation the church can be built on 24
