When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage. Mt 2:1-2 REFLECTION. The Epiphany of Our Lord is observed this Sunday Jan 6, 2019. The word Epiphany means to to shine upon, to manifest, or to make known.... The Son of God therefore communicates to His humanity His own personal mode of existence in the Trinity. In His soul as in His body, Christ thus expresses humanly the divine ways of the Trinity. The Son of God... worked with human hands; he thought with a human mind. He acted with a human will, and with a human heart He loved. Born of the Virgin Mary, He has truly been made one of us, like us in all things but sin. CCC 470 And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created him. Genesis 1:27 From the first moment of His conception, Jesus was created by the power of the Holy Spirit a divine Person with a human nature. It is absolutely true to state at the exact moment of conception God breathes a soul into the human person. Therefore, abortion is wrong because the human person, with an immortal soul, is created in the image and likeness of God. 277 babies aborted in November at the abortion clinic in Louisville. With December remaining, 3,154 have been killed in 2018. Ed Cecil, Respect Life Committee

(Ephesians 3:6) Applied to marriage, copartner means equal in dignity and decision making. Being a member of the same body does not mean some mythical new creature with two heads, but rather that we are in this life together. What happens to one of us, impacts the other.

The Epiphany of the Lord First Reading: Isaiah 60-1-6 Second Reading: Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6 Gospel: Matthew 2:1-12 Today the Church celebrates the Epiphany of the Lord: the manifestation to the Gentiles (in the persons of the Magi) of the life of God himself. God, who in the person of Jesus, shared in our humanity in order to allow us to share in his divinity forever. Like the Magi, each person s journey to Christ has its own direction and trail; and for each who pays Christ homage and offers the treasures one holds, the reward is the same: a path away from the dangers of sin and death and toward life.
