St. Francis Xavier The Day To Remember Our Vocation Page Three Today is World Mission Sunday. Today we celebrate our baptismal commitment as Catholics to continue in the footsteps of Jesus in bringing the light of the Gospel to all. Through this celebration we are reminded of our mission to go forth and proclaim the Gospel. Pope Francis stresses that we must continually offer ourselves and constantly invite others to share the Gospel with our brothers and sisters. The Pope says, Through the, Christ continues his mission as the good Samaritan, caring for the bleeding wounds of humanity and as a good shepherd, constantly seeking out those who wander along winding paths that lead nowhere. In Archbishop Jose Gomez s message, he writes, Each October, our Archdiocesan celebration of World Mission Sunday allows us an opportunity to focus our parish communities on the heart of our Christian faith - to lead them to mission. As Pope Francis explains in his message for this year s celebration: World Mission day gathers us around the person of Jesus, the very first and greatest evangelizer, who continually sends us forth to proclaim the Gospel of the love of God the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit. It is my hope that you will actively participate and reach out into the world and share the good news of the Gospel. We remember today the missionaries around the world proclaiming the Gospel of God s love. We may not be going places to share the mission Jesus entrusted to us, but we are missionaries. As we pray we share prayers with those in every parish. As we contribute we join with those in the remote areas sharing God s mercy. When we read about them we transcend boundaries and rejoice in our unity as missionaries. Let us be missionaries with those in the distant lands sharing Jesus by actively participating in today s World Mission Sunday. Next Sunday is our Mass in the Park. We join once again as one family of God with our celebration and communion. It is a time of realizing and proclaiming that we are all one in Jesus with St. Francis Xavier as our Parish. It gives me a lot of joy when I join you all under the trees and celebrate the Holy Mass, and eat and pray together. I hope this is true with you, too. Come as a family and join with your friends and neighbors. Let us have some time away from our routine activities for a change to meet new families and to make new friends. Product recall notices Children use a lot of gear from toys and sports equipment to technology. For parents, this means keeping an eye on product recalls. Recalls alert consumers to an unsafe feature or defect that could cause harm, and offer the opportunity to have that defect corrected, or a new product shipped out. Parents can use product recall search engines and online checklists to keep an eye on their children s toys and take action if any recalls are issued.
