THE NEWSLETTER OF WEST SIDE BAPTIST CHURCH OF TOPEKA, KS The Witness JANUARY 2019 VOL 105 #01 REMEMBER RENEWAL Pastor s Corner - Over the years a number of people have joined our congregation during the month of January. You can recognize them in worship services by the golden ribbon we will give them the first Sunday in January. CHRISTIAN ED - Happy New Year! We are looking forward to a great year in 2019 and the Christian Ed. Committee has started making plans for the New Year. On Sunday mornings there are three choices of classes for adults and also classes for all children and youth. Please join us for at 9:15. Wonderful West Side Wednesdays starts up again Jan 9 and goes thru May 1. These evenings include supper at 5:30 and for kids and adults from 6:00 to 7:00. By Feb 1, the Camping Scholarship program will be underway for children and youth to earn up to $100 each to help them go to a summer camp sponsored by ABCCR. We are also planning a repeat of our Summer Sunday School Cinema and need recommendations for good films. Plans are also being made for Vacation Bible School, July 15-19. Watch for more details soon and prayerfully consider how you might support and participate in any or all Christian Ed. activities. ~ Alice Payne, C.E. Coordinator END-OF-THE-YEAR DONATIONS Please consider giving an End-of-the-Year financial gift by mail or in person. West Side Baptist Church is registered 501(c)(3) religious not-for-profit organization under the Internal Revenue Code. Donations may be tax deductible as provided by law. All donations for 2018 must be received on or before December 31 to be included in your Financial Giving statement. See Bill Merrifield, Stewardship Secretary, for an up-to-date giving record. See Nancy Lindberg, Church Treasurer, to donate stocks, bonds, IRA distribution, or other securities. OUR CHURCH FINANCES - November 2018 Finance Report We are reviewing 91.67% of our budget year. Our income for November is $17,580.56 and to date totals $243,392.39 or 89.19% of our annual budget. The total income includes $27,084.54 in our fundraising efforts for new sign, boiler repair, and concrete work. It also includes $1,100 in memorial gifts and $2,763.64 in the youth fund among other smaller income items. Our expenses for November total $19,801.68 and total for the year is $252,244.04 or 92.53% of our budget. There were no extraordinary expenses for November. We are waiting on the repair of the boilers to be completed before we get the bill for that major expense. We have $9,439.78 in our checking account at the end of November. This includes the monies in the Youth Fund and Baby with the remainder of the money collected for the boiler replacement/repairs. Our checking account without these three funds would be -$18,381.80. Our fundraising efforts continue. The envelope for a Christmas offering was provided to the congregation. This offering through the Christmas season will go towards the major repairs minus 10% to the Habitat for Humanity house in the neighborhood. No money has been transferred from our Wells Fargo investment account this year. We wait for the bill from McElroy s to make the transfer. Our year-end report will be in the annual report prepared later in January. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. ~ Nancy Lindberg, Treasurer THANK YOU from the GREUTERS Praise the LORD!
