Gen 11:27,28 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah fathered Abram, Nahor and Haran. And Haran fathered Lot. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans. (MKJV) This is not just some chronological event: Haran died before his father died Gen 11:27,28 And these are births of Terah: Terah hath begotten Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran hath begotten Lot; and Haran dieth in the presence of Terah his father, in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees. (YLT) 6440 ynp Pinay before his fathers face 217. rwa 'uwr, from 215; flame;fire Josh 24:2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods. Terah was an idol maker (for Nimrod). On one occasion, he was embarking on a journey so he left young Abraham to mind the idol shop in his absence. When a customer came to purchase an idol, Abraham asked him, "How old are you?" The customer would answer that he was fifty or sixty years old. "Woe to this man!" Abraham would cry out. 1 P a g e

"He is sixty years old, yet he wants to prostrate himself before an idol only one day old." The customer would leave in shame. Once a woman entered the shop carrying a bowl of flour [as a gift to the gods]. "Take the flour and offer it before the idols for me," she told Abraham. He took a stick and smashed all the idols [except the biggest one]. Then he placed the stick in the hand of the biggest one. When his father returned, he asked, "Who smashed the idols?" Abraham replied, "Why should I try to conceal the truth from you? A woman entered the shop with a bowl of flour and told me to offer it to the idols. I placed it before them. One said, "I will eat it first." Another said, "I will eat it first." The biggest one took a stick and smashed the others. "Why are you lying to me!" Terah demanded. "Do idols have intelligence?" Abraham replied, "Let your ears hear what your mouth is saying!" {Genesis Rabbah 38:8) Gen 10:8-10 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Dan 3:20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Gen 11:27,28 And these are births of Terah: Terah hath begotten Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran hath begotten Lot; and Haran died before the face of his father, Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees. Gen 12:2,3 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Gen 12:6,7 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Shechem, unto the plain of More. And the Canaanite was then in the land. And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. Le 25:13 In the year of this jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession. Le 25:23 The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me. Gen 12:5 And Abram took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother's son, and all their goods and the servants which they had got in Haran, and they went out to go to the land of Canaan. Gen 12:5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gained(made) in Haran. (MKJV) 2 P a g e

Gen 13:12-15 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. Gen 14:2 That these made war with Bera erb king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Gen 14:11,12 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way. And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. Gen 14:17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return Gen 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. Ps 76:2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion. Priests who wanted to serve in the Jerusalem Temple needed to provide genealogical evidence that they were descended from Aaron. Melchizedek's priesthood is apparently not based upon genealogy because the Torah provides no genealogical information for Melchizedek. Since Messiah belongs to a different priesthood than that of Aaron, His priesthood does not cancel or abolish the Aaronic priesthood. Instead, it is a different priesthood that operates in a different venue; namely, the heavenly Temple. Zech 6:12,13 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. If Melchizedek represents the Messiah, then the King of Sodom represents the Anti-Messiah Gen 14:21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the prisoners and take the goods for yourself. Gen 14:21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the souls, and take the property for thyself. Gen 15:2-4 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? 3 P a g e

And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. Gen 15:5,6 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Isa 51:1-4 Listen to me, pursuers of righteousness; seekers of the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut, and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug. Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. For the LORD shall comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places; and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness shall be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody. Listen to Me, My people; and give ear to Me, O My nation; for a law shall go out from Me, and I will make My judgment to rest for a light of peoples. Gen 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Messiah. Mt 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. There was a king who desired to build and lay foundations. He dug constantly deeper but found only a swamp. A last he dug and found petra [bedrock]. He said,"on this spot I shall build and lay foundations." So the Holy One, blessed be He, desired to create the world, but sitting and meditating upon the generation of the Flood, He said, "How shall I create the world, seeing that those wicked men will only provoke Me?" But as soon as God perceived that there would arise an Abraham, He said, "Behold, I have found a petra [bedrock] upon which to build and to lay foundations of the world." Therefore he called Abraham 'Rock.' [Yalkut Shimoni) Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: Mt 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Messiah, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, (petros) and upon this rock (petra bedrock) I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 4 P a g e

Gen 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; Gen 15:17,18 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: Isa 62:1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation hewvy thereof as a lamp that burneth. Gen 16:16 And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram. Gen 17:5-8 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. Circumcision is akin to baptism in that it is an outward sign of what should ideally be an inward reality. The circumcision of the flesh is an outward sign of the circumcision of the heart Gen 17:15-17 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, qxu and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? Gen 18:12 Therefore Sarah laughed qxu within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? Gen 21:3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. qxuy 5 P a g e

Part 2-The Gospels & Acts from a Hebraic Perspective Pastor Art Palecek Gen 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. Abraham, "father of a multitude of nations", is revered not only in Judaism but also in Christianity and Islam Gen 12:5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gained in Haran. And they went forth to go into the land of Canaan. And they came into the land of Canaan. Rabbi Nachman of Breslov tells us that when Abraham would come to a town, he would stand up in the town square and start calling everyone to come and listen to him. He would ask them what was the point of squandering their lives on the pursuit of worldly vanity, telling them to think about the purpose of life in this world -- to find God. Abraham set the young people on fire with his revolutionary ideas, and they would come running after him. Gen 14:14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. trained: Kynx chaniyk :three hundred and eighteen of them: Eliezer rzeyla= 318 El etzer-god is help The comforter-comes alongside to help Gen 15:2 And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? Eliezer was a faithful servant and the one entrusted to find wife for Isaac Mt 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: Discipleship wasn't new but was initiated with Abraham. 6 P a g e

Mt 3:1 And in those days cometh John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, Mt 3:5 Then went out unto him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about the Jordan; 6 and they were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said unto them, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruit worthy of repentance: 9 and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. stones: liyov lithos- Strongs 3037 In the Septuagint De 27:2 And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster: 3 And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over What was written on the stones? John 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. 39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.. 40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Mt 15:12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? 13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. 7 P a g e

14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Mt 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. The Talmud teaches that Ezra & the Men of the Great Assembly composed from scriptural resources eighteen blessing known as the Shimoneh Esrei in the early years of the 2nd Temple era. Ex 2:23 In the course of those many days the king of Egypt died. And the people of Israel groaned under their bondage, and cried out for help, and their cry under bondage came up to God. 24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. The men of the Great Assembly gave 3 charges to disciples: 1.Be deliberate in judgment-study the scriptures seriously and diligently 2Ti 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2.Raise up many disciples so the teaching wouldn't be lost 2Ti 2:2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 3.Make a fence for the Torah-protect the commandments by teaching the disciples to avoid behaviors that lead to sin 1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil Ac 19:8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. 9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. 10 And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks. 11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: 8 P a g e

John 12:17 The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead bore witness. 18 The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. 19 The Pharisees then said to one another, "You see that you can do nothing; look, the world has gone after him." Mt 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: 2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them Mt 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Mt 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: Mt 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: Yeshua fenced the prohibition of murder with a prohibition against anger, slander and insult. Mt 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: Mt 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Yeshua fenced the prohibition of adultery with a prohibition against lust. 1Jo 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Yeshua cut past the external appearances and builds the fence around Torah within the heart. Mt 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil Comparison to the Siddur "Hashem, our God, and the God of our Forefathers that you accustom us to study your Torah and attach us to your commandments that you do not bring us into the power of error, nor into the power of transgression and sin 9 P a g e

let not the evil inclination Yatzer hora) dominate us distance us from an evil person and an evil companion attach us to the good inclination (Yatzer hatov) and to good deeds and compel our evil inclination to be subservient to you Mt 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Rabbi Azariah from Avot 3:22 He whose learning is greater than his good deeds,to what can he be compared? Like a tree with many branches. The wind blows and uproots the tree But he has good deeds greater than his learning, to what can he be compared? -a tree with few branches, but with many roots. If all the wind in the world was blowing against it, it could not be uprooted. 10 P a g e
