St. Edward Women s Study Group Dear Parishioners, The various essays shared poignant stories that we have either heard before or experienced. They are life experiences of those around us who receive a devastating diagnosis, struggle with depression or despair, and face insurmountable obstacles. Yet, in each of these stories, they discovered their hope which is a belief and conviction that we are not alone. God never abandons us, and God will always be with us which provides us the strength to fight, to live, and to act. And the TRUTH of this belief is seen in how God has places a family, a group of friends, strangers, and a community of faith that fulfills his promise and assurance. If I was invited to contribute an essay, I would testify to what I have witnessed in my time here in al three communities of North Plains, Roy, and Verboort. Similar stories of the Church, the people of God, the faith community of St. Edward, St. Francis, and Visitation who give hope to those who are in need. I will name examples such as the St. Edward Tea Fundraiser providing money to children and families who have enormous medical care and bills. Also, other fundraising and community/family auction events for parishioners such as Jayden Krieger, Ethan Kemper, Deb Delplanche, and Briana Dannen (Braxmeyer) to name a few. The consistent meals provided at least three times a week for the past 4 years to help Bob Patton care for Deb that Roy and Verboort parishioners have cooked, baked, bought, and delivered. Also, the gifts accumulated, wrapped, and delivered during the holiday season for the Advent Giving Tree that brings tears and smiles to families who are in need. And, finally, the pounds and boxes of food in support of the Knights of Columbus Lenten Project of 40 cans for 40 days. All three parishes of St. Edward, St. Francis, and Visitation not only understand what it means to be Hope in the Church, but we are visible signs of it in our concrete actions by what we do for our own parishioners and those outside of our community in their most trying times of physical and spiritual trial. Have a Blessed Lenten Week! ~Fr. Michael Benediction and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be on Wednesday, March 7th immediately following the 9:00 am Mass with closing at 7:00 pm. Offertory envelope boxed sets for 2018 are available now. Stop by or call the parish office to request a box.
