From: Richard Garner [mailto:jrmgarner@btinternet.com] Sent: 24 April 2015 18:40 To: R25a Subject: Info for Readers: Summer Biblical Study in Cambridge 2015 - Special Offer To: Hilary Elder, Reader Contact (Secretary) Dear Hilary I am following up my previous messages to Reader Contacts, which were made last October, partly because my original mailing revealed that quite a few contact details on the Readers website were out of date. Also, having expanded our programme to two weeks this August and moved from Oxford to Cambridge we still have quite a few spare places this year, so I am making an exclusive offer to Readers of a discount on the Lecture Fee (see below). Please refer to the first two pages of the following attachments to see this year's lecture programme for Summer Biblical Study in Cambridge in detail. I hope you will agree that it presents an excellent range of material from eminent scholars covering New and Old Testament subjects and related topics. Recent experience confirms that what we offer is of particular relevance to those Readers who have a special interest in critical biblical study and in recent developments in scholarship, many of whom will also be involved in or will welcome the opportunity to take up the study of biblical Hebrew or New Testament Greek. Exclusive Offer to Readers: I am making an offer in this email which you will not find on our website or in other promotional material - a 50% discount on the weekly 100 Lecture Fee for Readers who have not attended our event in the last three years and who book to participate as residents. With the cost of accommodation at 510 for five nights full board from Sunday afternoon until Friday lunchtime this brings the total cost down to 560 for a residential programme containing 19 one hour sessions of Lectures and Readings, and including free time for private study or to explore the attractions of Cambridge. (There are extra charges for Car Parking and Language Classes.) This offer is limited to five places in Week 1 and ten places in Week 2, and the final deadline for booking is 1 June. Readers wishing to take up this offer should post me a completed booking form and a cheque for the reduced Lecture Fee of 50 (per week). The charge for accommodation will be invoiced later in June. Please let me know if you require any further information or if future communications need to be directed to someone else. With thanks for your assistance Regards Richard Richard Garner Treasurer and Trustee Summer Biblical Study in Cambridge www.vtbs.org.uk (The programme of the Vacation Term for Biblical Study) 45 Souldern Street, Watford, Herts WD18 0EU 01923 229306 Registered charity number 1125494

The lectures are always interesting and challenging, opening new avenues of interpretation. I particularly enjoy the option to study Greek and Hebrew. I m already looking forward to going to Cambridge next summer. If you are passionately interested in Biblical exegesis and enjoy studying the original Hebrew and Greek texts, in the company of like-minded people, this Summer Biblical Study in Cambridge is for you. You will love it! A challenging standard of theological teaching, helping to broaden my thinking and recharge my batteries as a Reader at my local parish church It has always been an oasis in my year to spend a week, or on one occasion two weeks, exploring the more academic side of my faith and to get some very good teaching and reading of Hebrew and Greek, which is not available to me locally.
