THE LORD'S SUPPER ORDER OF SERVICE [Extracts from the Book of Worship published by Church of North India] (Numbers before paragraph represent the section numbers in the Books of Worship, CNI) Welcome message by the Presbyter/Leader. 1st Hymn is sung. 3. Presbyter/Leader: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and fellowship of the Holy Sprit be with you all. 2 Cor. 13:14 And also with you. 4. The Presbyter/Leader and people say together: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. AMEN. 5. Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God's people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, hi the glory of God the Father. AMEN

Readings for the Sunday: 1St Reading from Old Testament 2nd Reading from New Testament Epistle 2nd Hymn is sung. Reading from Gospel SERMON 14. The Nicene Creed is said: We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his Kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. AMEN NOTICES 16 The Intercession: In our intercession let us join our prayer for the whole human family with the unceasing prayer of Christ our Lord.

Heavenly Father, we pray for justice and peace in the whole world, and for fullness of life for everyone; Presbyter: For all who live in this place, for the removal of all that divides us from each other, and for true harmony in our country; Presbyter: For all engaged in agriculture, industry and commerce, for all workers skilled and unskilled, and for all those who defend our country; Presbyter: For teachers and students, scientists, artists and writers, and for all who influence the minds and hearts of others; Presbyter: For those who are suffering, the poor and hungry, the destitute and oppressed, the unemployed, the sick and the dying, and for all who help them; Presbyter: For all to whom authority is entrusted in this and other countries, and especially for our President, the Prime Presbyter, the Governor and the Chief Presbyter of this State, and for all who have power over other people;

Presbyter: world; For the unity of all Christian people, and for their witness and service in the Presbyter: For your whole Church in our country; for its Councils and leaders, especially for our Moderator, Moderator of the Church of South India, and Metropolitan of the Mar Thoma Church,, for our Bishop, for our Presbyter and all other Presbyters of your Church, that they may be faithful in their ministry; Presbyter: That with all your people who have faithfully served you in this life, we also may share in the eternal joy of your Kingdom; Hasten, heavenly Father, the coming of your kingdom, and grant these petitions which we offer in the name of your Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen The Confession of Sin: Beloved, Our Lord Jesus Christ said: Hear: The Lord our God is the only Lord. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with

all your strength. This is first commandment. And the second is this: Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. 18 Presbyter: God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins, to be our advocate in heaven, and to bring us eternal life. Let us therefore confess our sins in penitence and faith, firmly resolved by God s grace to keep his commandments and to live in love and peace with all people. 19. After a short silence the Presbyter and the people say: Almighty God, our heavenly Father, we have sinned against you and against one another in thought and word and deed, in the evil we have done and in the good we have not done, through ignorance, through weakness, through our own deliberate fault. We are truly sorry and repent of all our sins. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, forgive us all that is past; and grant that we may serve you in newness of life to the glory of your name. Amen. 20.Presbyter: Almighty God, who forgives all who forgive one another and truly repent of their sins, have mercy on you, pardon and deliver you from all from all your sins confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in life eternal, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen, thanks be to God. 22. The Peace: Presbyter: We are the body of Christ. In one sprit we were baptized into one body. Let us pursue all that makes for peace that builds up our common life. 1 Cor. 12.27,13; Rom. 14.19 All greet each other by shaking hands and saying, 'The peace of the Lord be with you'. 3rd Hymn is sung and offertory collected.

26. Presbyter Let us present these offerings, and with them ourselves, for the service of the Divine Majesty. 27. All things come from you, and of your own do we give you, Almighty God, Creator of the world. We ask you to accept these offerings and gifts of bread and wine for the glory of your name and for the good of your people; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen 28. Presbyter: The Lord is here. His Spirit is with us. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give him thanks and praise. 29. Presbyter: It is not only right, it is our duty, and our joy, Holy Father, heavenly King, Almighty and eternal God, always and everywhere to offer you thanks and praise through Jesus Christ Your only Son, our Lord; For he is your true and living Word; Through him you have created all things from the beginning, And formed us in your own image; Through him you enlighten every one who comes into the world, and from age to age have raised up prophets and wise men and women to point the way to you; Through him you have freed us from the slavery of sin, giving him to be born as man, to die upon the cross, and to rise again for us; Through him you give your holy and life-giving Sprit, to make us your children and the first-fruits of your new creation.

31 Therefore we join our praises to the never-ending song of saints and angels before your throne, we proclaim the glory of your name, and say; Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Presbyter: Accept our praises, heavenly Father, through your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, and as we follow his example and obey his command, grant that by the power of your Sprit these gifts of bread and wine may be to us the body and blood of him who died for us and rose again; 32 For in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and after giving you thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, and said: Take, eat: this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way after supper, he took the cup and having given you thanks, he gave it to them and said: Drink this, all of you: for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. 33 Therefore, heavenly Father, in remembrance of him we set apart this bread and this cup; we celebrate and proclaim his perfect sacrifice made once for all upon the cross, his resurrection from the dead, and his ascension into heaven; and we look for his coming in glory. All Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ shall come again. All

Accept through him, our great high priest, this our sacrifice of thanks and praise; and as we eat and drink these holy gifts in the presence of your divine majesty, renew us by your Sprit, inspire us with your love, and unite us in the body of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. With him, and in him, and through him, by the power of the Holy Sprit, with all who stand before you in earth and heaven, we worship you, Father Almighty, in songs of everlasting praise; Blessing and honour and glory and power be yours for ever and ever Amen. THE COMMUNION-THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE SHARING OF THE BREAD AND WINE. 34. Presbyter: We break this bread that we may share in the body of Christ We are one body, for we all share in the one bread. 35. Presbyter: The cup which we bless is a sharing of the blood of Christ. His life is in us and we live in him. 36. Presbyter: As our Saviour Christ has taught us, so we pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the time of trial, but deliver us from evil. For he kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. 37. The Prayer of Humble Access: We do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies and souls may be made clean by his most precious body and blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. AMEN

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Jesus, Lamb of God: have mercy on us Jesus, bearer of our sins: have mercy on us Jesus, redeemer of the world: give us your peace. 39. The Presbyter and people receive consecrated bread and wine. Communion Hymn is sung. AFTER COMMUNION: 44. Almighty God, we thank you for feeding us with the body and blood of your son Jesus Christ. Through him we offer you overselves to be a living sacrifice. Send us out in the power of your Sprit to live and work to your praise and glory. Amen. 45. Presbyter: The peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, And the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Sprit, be among you and remain with you always. AMEN Go in peace to love and serve the Lord

In the name of Christ. Amen Retiring Hymn is sung in conclusion.
