St. Mary of Mo'ili'ili First Sunday after Christmas December 30, 2018 The Holy Eucharist - Rite Two 1

Celebrant: Rev. Gregory Johnson We STAND for the Procession of the Cross and the Opening Hymn and Prayer. Opening Hymn: How bright appears the Morning Star [verses 1&2] H497 The Eucharist begins on Page 355 of BCP Collect of the Day Celebrant Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. We are SEATED for The Lessons Isaiah 61:10 62:3 Rejoice in the LORD, for as a bride adorns herself with jewels, the LORD clothes us with the garments of salvation. As the earth brings forth its shoots, so the LORD causes good will to spring up among the nations who see that Israel is a crown of beauty! Psalm 147:13-21 In Unison Praise the LORD who commands all the earth; who declares his Word to all who follow his ways! Galatians 3:23-25; 4:4-7 We were imprisoned by the commandments of Judaism, before the coming of Christ. Now that he has come, we have been set free; for GOD sent his Son, Jesus, born of woman, that we would be adopted as children of GOD, and, therefore, no longer be slaves to the Law, but heirs of eternal life through Christ. We STAND for the Proclamation of the GOSPEL Gospel Hymn: O Christ, the Word Incarnate [verse 1] H632 2

Gospellor: Priest: People: Rev. Jayaprakash Sabbithi The Holy Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ according to John Glory to you, Lord Christ The Gospel: John 1:1-18 Priest: The Gospel of the Lord People: Praise to you, Lord Christ Gospel Hymn: O Christ, the Word Incarnate [verse 2] H632 The Sermon Rev. Jayaprakash Sabbithi The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. 3

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Those who are able KNEEL as a community of faith in prayer. The Prayers of the People Form VI BCP Page 392 Intercessor: Pablo Cortez The Peace Blessings and Thanksgivings are offered at this time. The Breaking of the Bread BCP Page 364 Communion All baptized Christians are invited to share in this fore taste of the heavenly banquet. If you would like to receive a blessing instead of the Sacramental bread and wine, you may come to the altar rail arms across your chest. 5

Prayer of Thanksgiving Almighty and everliving God, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living members of the Body of your Son, and heirs of your eternal kingdom. And now, Father, send us out to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen. Closing Hymn: Good Christian Friends, rejoice [verses 2 & 3] H107 Dismissal Celebrant: Go in Peace to love and serve the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. 6
