Fourth Sunday of Advent Contemporary Rite p. 15 Candle Hymn v. 4 Penitential Rite, p. 16 Entrance Hymn V. But you, Bethlehem-Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah R. From you shall come forth for Me one who is to be ruler in Israel; Whose origin is from of old, from ancient times. V. Glory be... R. As it was A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Micah. Micah 5:1-4a Thus says the LORD: You, Bethlehem-Ephrathah too small to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel; whose origin is from of old, from ancient times. Therefore the Lord will give them up, until the time when she who is to give birth has borne, and the rest of his kindred shall return to the children of Israel. He shall stand firm and shepherd his flock by the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD, his God; and they shall remain, for now his greatness shall reach to the ends of the earth; he shall be peace. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Gradual V. Awesome indeed is the Lord s majesty, and wonderful is His power. R. More than this we need not add; let the last word be, He is all in all! A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Hebrews. Phil 4:4-7 Brothers and sisters: When Christ came into the world, he said: Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; in holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight. Then I said, As is written of me in the scroll, behold, I come to do your will, O God. First he says, Sacrifices and offerings, holocausts and sin offerings, you neither desired nor delighted in. These are offered according to the law. Deacon s Dialogue By: Rev. Mr. Richard Kasprzak Christmas. A celebration of the birth of Our Lord. May it bring the blessings of love and peace to all on earth. It s funny, but I still think a 1998 car like my Grandson just bought is still relatively new. It is 20 years old, just like our new century, not to mention millennium, will be 20 years old in 2 years. I believe I m still stuck in the 1960s. Weird feelings at times, here I am retired (Welcome, John), going on 75, and I still think like a kid (just ask my wife). I (we) look forward to time away from home, going to Florida, going to Canada to visit relatives, going up North to relax, fish, etc. But no matter how nice a time we have, it s always good to come back home. We shall be having Christmas Eve at our house, and Veronica volunteered to do Christmas Day at her place. Nice Telephones we all have them. I broke down and got a smart phone. All it s done is shown me how much I lack. Liz, my phone keeps humming So she comes over and stops the hum. Only thing worse is having my granddaughter teach me things about my phone. We still have a house phone, the extensions were not working. Called the company to come and fix, 60 bucks to come plus repair costs. Bought 4 new phones, work off 1 line, 45 bucks. Now I have to get rid of old phones. By this will, we have been consecrated through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.. This is the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God Gospel Acclamation V. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. R. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia V. Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word. R. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke. Lk 1:39-45 Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled. This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise be to You, Jesus Christ.
