Page 4 Easter Sunday Happy Easter! Wesolego Alleluja! Felices Pascuas! Christ redeemed us all and gave perfect glory to God through His Paschal Mystery dying He destroyed our death and rising He restored our life. Christ is risen! May our Easter deeply transform our lives, renew our families, and bless us with an incredible hope and joy during these fifty days ofnew LIFE. We wish you and your families a most happy and blessed Easter as we share in the glorious resurrection of Christ the Lord! Fr. Robert & Parish Staff of St. Florian Happy Easter! Alleluia Easter Sunday 2017 By David Phillipart Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Risen Lord, This year's Easter gospel comes to us from Saint Matthew. He describes Easter morning. Women go to the tomb at dawn on the first day of the week. An angel appears and speaks to them: "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples." In these words, we find the essential Easter message directed to each one of us today in our uncertain world and amid the painful burdens we carry: do not be afraid, come and see, go and tell. Easter eases our fear when we come to know God's triumph in the resurrection of Jesus. Easter invites us to come and see with fresh eyes what God has done in conquering sin and death. Easter summons us to go and share our faith and hope with others. When we hear this message and recognize Jesus Christ as the Risen Lord of life, how can we not praise and thank God? How can we not walk together with new confidence and hope? In a time when violence and death-dealing forces seem rampant in the world and even in our own neighborhoods, we truly need new confidence and hope. And when we listen to the Lord, as we have been trying to do in the Archdiocese of Chicago, to seek directions for the renewal of our local Church, we surely need new confidence and hope. Pray with me that we may all truly hear the words-do not be afraid, come and see, go and tell-and so draw new life from them for our loved ones, our world, our city and metropolitan area, our Church, and our very selves. Sincerely yours in Christ, It is surely the angel s praise before God s throne their unceasing song. It sounds like what it means, resounding human joy that defies explanation. And if you listen to the earth returning to life these spring days, perhaps you will hear with your heart that it is the root note of every breeze whispering through branches, the hymn of every seed case cracking open and every bud blooming. Hebrew s hallelujah is Latin s alleluia one word that deserves never to be muttered, always to be sung from our lips, whistled by the flute, broadcast by the drum, shouted with the trumpet s throat. Think it as the car whooshes down the street, as the train clanks into the station. Sing it syncopated as you jog. Bellow it in the shower with warm water running. Chant it peacefully as you rock the baby to sleep or comb grandma s gray hair. Breathe it out when you breathe your last: Alleluia!Fifty days of rejoicing burst out of one word: Alleluia! Death dies, life lives in a song: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Cardinal Blase J. Cupich Archbishop of Chicago

April 16, 2017 Page 5 From the Pastor's Desk ST. FLORIAN CHURCH Dear "To Teach Who Christ Is" donor, In addition to the other information regarding this collection, please remember that the program was meant to take 5 years to help you spread your donation over time. Some ofyou have already given the entire sum of money that you pledged. The 60% from the program goes directly into our parish account. Anything above that we get 100%. At the end ofthe 5 year period we hope to use the money to purchase a new boiler for our Church. This is way overdue! Thank you for your generosity and please continue fulfilling your pledge. St. Florian is counting on you! Yours in Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor THE JELLY BEAN PRAYER RED is for the blood he gave. GREEN is for the grass he made. YELLOW is for the sun so bright. ORANGE is for the edge of night. BLUE is for the sins we made. WHITE is for the grace he gave. PURPLE is for his hour of sorrow. PINK is for our new tomorrow. A bag full of jelly beans, colorful and sweet, is a prayer, is a promise, is a special treat. HAPPY EASTER! The St. Florian Self Defense Program Come join "The St. Florian Self-Defense Program." All ages may sign up, children and adults. For more information, please call (708) 476-8615. is now on Facebook Information and events will be posted on the Florian Hegewisch user page. SVDP DROP OFF BINS The Saint Vincent de Paul clothing bins (located In our parking lot behind the church) are strictly for clothing and shoes ONLY. All bundles should be bagged and tied. Nothing should be left outside the bins. If bins are full, please come back the following week. Bins are emptied on a regular basis. Anything left out-side bins will be destroyed by the weather which makes it useless to everyone. People have been rummaging through the bins and ripping the bags open and taking out clothing. If anyone sees this please remind them that the clothing is for people who are in need. A big thank you to all who took part in the "To Teach Who Christ Is" Campaign. We appreciate your generosity. The Archdiocese credits us every month with 60% of your CURRENT payments. Some people are DRAMATICALLY delinquent in their payments which slows down our goal. We really can't move forward until we receive most of the funds for the boiler. If you have any questions about your payments, please call the Archdiocese at 312-534-8500. Yours in Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor
