Thank you for the preparation of these students by our parents, families, teachers and catechists. You all did a fantastic job. The students were really well prepared and happy. My homily spoke on a 4-Point Action Plan to open the doors to Christ in our families and to welcome him in. The four points were Meal Prayers, Bedtime Prayers, Things of God (religious items/art) and the Sabbath (keeping Sunday connected with Church). I received a great deal of positive feedback and many persons acknowledging with me how precious is the small window of time to fully impact and form a child in the Faith. Pray for our parents. Life is so busy and it is easy to miss the moments of Faith. Plans are now well underway for our Parish Picnic celebration. We have chosen Sunday June 4 th, Pentecost Sunday for the big day. Pentecost Sunday, falling 50 days after Easter on the Church calendar, is marked with bright Red of the fire of the Holy Spirit, acknowledging the descent of the Holy Spirt upon Mary and the Apostles. That same Holy Spirit descends upon us through the Sacraments, especially Baptism and Confirmation. The gift of the Holy Spirit is meant to transform us into the adopted sons and daughters of God we were always meant to become. This transformation shows itself in love of God, neighbor and self. It is a lifelong project. We will take Pentecost weekend to acknowledge those organizations in our parish who have given themselves to the service of our parish members for decades. We will also acknowledge individual persons who have served our parish for many many years. There will also be a special recognition of our Charter Members who laid the foundation of our great parish. The day will highlight at the 10am Mass and be followed by a great meal, silent auction, fellowship and cash raffle. Your participation would be wonderful. We will have a pig roast on that Sunday following the 10:00am Mass and those tickets will be going on sale in the near future so that we can plan accordingly. Please remember to purchase a ticket and plan on staying for some food, fun, fellowship and beverages of all varieties. We will be inviting you also to take some Cash Raffle tickets to sell in advance. The winner will be drawn that Sunday. The selling of these raffle tickets is very very helpful to our operating budget as we wind down the fiscal year. We will be inviting you to take what you think you can sell. Some of you are very very good at this. I thank you for your efforts. Fr. Mark Vander Steeg
