GESHE KELSANG GYATSO ABOUT US LOCATED DOWNTOWN in Toronto s Little Italy, Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada (KMCC) is the National Temple of the New Kadampa Tradition and a peaceful oasis in the heart of the busy city. A non-profit organization, KMC Canada was established in 2008 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche to provide people in Toronto and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to learn how to meditate and practise Buddha s teachings. Through applying the methods taught, everyone can discover lasting happiness from within. FOUNDER & TRADITION VENERABLE GESHE KELSANG GYATSO RINPOCHE is the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition, International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU), and a Spiritual Guide for the modern world. A fully accomplished and world-renowned meditation master, Geshe Kelsang has pioneered the introduction of modern Kadampa Buddhism for contemporary society. Presenting Buddha s teachings in a way that is relevant and suitable for modern people with busy daily lives, he shows how these teachings can be used by anyone, Buddhist or non-buddhist, to solve daily problems, improve personal relationships, and eventually attain a deep, lasting happiness and inner peace. GEN-LA KELSANG DEKYONG General Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition A Buddhist nun and senior disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, Gen-la Dekyong is the General Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition and has been practising and studying Kadampa Buddhism for over thirty years. Gen-la Dekyong is a highly experienced Buddhist Teacher who has dedicated her life to helping spread Kadampa Buddhism throughout the world by developing meditation centres and providing constant support to the spiritual community. Having trained closely with Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for over thirty-five years, Gen-la Khyenrab is an internationally renowned Teacher and Buddhist monk who is greatly admired for his clear understanding and powerful teachings. He is respected throughout the world for his deep experience and humility. His pure example reflects his many years of reliance on his Spiritual Guide. 9

MEDITATION WEEKLY CLASSES SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE, these walk-in meditation classes are part of our General Program (GP) and offer simple, practical methods to improve the quality of our lives and develop inner peace. The classes focus on using Buddhist understanding to help us solve our daily problems and find the lasting happiness we seek. Each class contains a teaching and guided meditation. Although taught as a series, each class is self-contained and can be attended individually. Our main GP classes at KMCC are on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings as well as Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings. We also offer weekly classes in various locations around Toronto and the GTA. SUNDAY KIDS CLASS WHILE THEIR PARENTS ATTEND the Sunday Morning Class, kids can attend a special class just for them. The purpose of these classes is to develop and nurture positive qualities in young children through meditation, play and beneficial thinking.
