Michael, I am pleased to inform you that St. Columba has been awarded a grant in the amount of $2,000 from the Catholic Charities Campaign for Charity and Justice for building of bunk beds & support of Midnight Runs. Congratulations! This grant was made possible thanks to Catholic Charities Campaign for Charity & Justice launched last year, and previously known as the Catholic Campaign for Human Development Collection. We administered and rebranded the collection as part of marking Catholic Charities centenary, and a desire to support the critical social ministries of our parishes and community - based organizations (CBOs). The response was positive. Over $412,000 was raised by 289 parishes, about 5% increase from last year. I am grateful for this generous response to serving the neediest New Yorkers. Over fifty grant applications were submitted, totaling $715,00 in requests. We were able to partially or fully fund every qualifying applicant through either the Campaign or Catholic Charities Feeding our Neighbor Program. In total, $266,000 will be awarded to 40 parishes and CBOs that applied to the Campaign for Charity & Justice. Additionally, the Archdiocese will continue to support the anti-poverty efforts of the USCCB. Thank you for your leadership & efforts to serve those in need in your own community. All of us at Catholic Charities are looking forward to this partnership! Sincerely, Msgr. Kevin Sullivan "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." - Colossians 3:32 School is in session and the value of the month for September was INDUSTRIOUSNESS.
