Psalm 119:30 VOLUME 2 April 24, 2016 Number 17 From the Pastor s Heart Greetings Southside Family, And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near (Hebrews 10:24-25). The word encouraging in the verses above has an incredibly clear and simple meaning in the Greek language. It means to call out to from alongside. We are to shout to fellow believers in this race of life, You can do this, and I m running with you! Encouragement is one of the most needed ministries today! There are so many things that tear us down, discourage us, and beat us up in life. The local church should be a place of encouragement. The church gathering should be the most encouraging time of our week. May we seek opportunities to stir up one another to love and good works. I would like to inform the church family that Ms. Jean Cook has announced to the Personnel team and the staff of her plans to retire from the position of financial secretary at Southside. Ms. Jean has served for over five years as our financial secretary. She will be greatly missed by our church family and staff as she has served so faithfully as our financial secretary. The personnel team is currently seeking to fill the position. Please contact the personnel team or church office if you would like more information on the position. We will recognize our graduating students on May 15 th in our morning worship service. Parents of seniors, please remember to get your information turned in by May 1st and also RSVP for the Graduate Luncheon. WIRED 2016 is also fast approaching. June 26 th through July 1 st. We will need an ARMY of volunteers. We have needs both around the church campus here at Southside and at the Civic Center as well. If you would like to help out during that week, we need assistance in the following areas: Breakfast preparation/serving * Dinner preparation/serving Hospitality * Greeters at Civic Center Lunch and water cooler engineers * Registration at SBC The list above is a brief list of needs there are also many others.
