February 2013 T he August 2017 Chronicle 1 Goodbye, Aharonians! We will miss you. Who We Are Our Mission Connecting people to Christ Equipping them for life! Our Affiliation Crosspoint is part of Converge PacWest, the Northwest District of Converge Worldwide. Converge s focus is to Connect, Ignite, and Transform: Connecting God s people around God s purposes, that He might ignite movements of reproduction for the purpose of transforming lives and communities with Christ s love and truth. From Pastor Mike Greetings This is one thing I learned a lot about, on our trip to Tanzania. Everywhere we went, we spent what felt like a very long time on greetings and introductions. Every house we went to, the family was introduced and greeted us, and we were introduced and greeted them. Every meeting we sat in. Every group of believers we encountered. Greetings. Introductions. Orientation to who is who. At the beginning, this formality felt quite strange, and even foreign; spending this long on such a basic thing is not normal for us. When we had dinner at someone s house, this greeting and introduction time might take 30 minutes or more! As the trip wore on, however, it became more expected and even anticipated. What a special time to be invited into someone s life. One of my favorite aspects of these greetings involved you. When I got to introduce our team or speak about who we are, I always included two things. First, I let those in the Datooga tribe know that this wasn t just a one-off trip. We had known about them and been praying for them for a long time. Some of them by name! I wanted them to hear that this trip was motivated by an ongoing love for God, and by God s ongoing love for the Datooga. The second part of any greeting included more than the 19 who went on the trip. I shared that, although 19 of us actually got on the airplane, there were many, many more believers in God who were participating in this trip. I shared that our entire church had supported the trip through prayer, finances, gifts, supplies, dresses, Bibles, etc. Behind the 19 faces sitting in front of them was an entire church who was making an impact in a community halfway around the globe! What a blessing to be involved in a church with a global vision your prayers and support made the impacts in Tanzania possible! Bwana asifiwe! Praise the Lord! 1 1
Summer Pool Party Family Ministry Corner 2 On July 1 st Crosspoint s Young Families and kids had an afternoon of fun at Bob and Marilyn Stewart s home for swimming, fellowship and food. It was a great time! As Bob was sitting in the shade near the waterfall that flows into their pool, the boys found him. Liam, Cade and Zachary had such a fun time exploring the little ponds and the water flow. Liam was in his dry clothes having a great time talking and learning from Bob about the waterfall. Liam loved jumping in the water and by this time was soaked. Thankfully I had an extra change of clothes at the bottom of the diaper bag. As I was watching Liam and Bob play, I could see the absolute joy on Bob s face. It was such a special moment for them. Bob loved having everyone enjoy their beautiful backyard. And you could feel all of the blessings that family fellowship brings. I want to thank Bob and Marilyn for opening up their home and pool on such a nice day! Erin Patterson, Elementary School Children MTL AWANA This is the time of year when we normally would be planning for the new year of AWANA. However, after discussion with the Elders it has been decided that we will be pressing the pause button and there will be no Club this year. This has been a difficult but prayerful decision brought about by changes in the life circumstances of a number of our key leaders, who will not be able to lead in this AWANA year, and will be greatly missed. We anticipate that this will be a one year-pause and that new leaders can be recruited and trained. Pray with us that this will be the case. Rich & Peg Thomas 2 2

Women s Ministry 5 Upcoming Ladies Events Saturday, August 19- Chocolate and Friends 1-3 pm, Ministry Center. Saturday, September 16- Safe Families & Bridges Baby Shower 1-3 pm, Ministry Center. Women s Conference January 26-28 28 2018 Monterey Music Notes So the song Good, Good Father has been running through my mind over the last few days. Of course, when that happens, I usually can only remember a portion of the song, but in this case it wasn t annoying. Phrases like You are perfect in all of Your ways and Love so undeniable, I can hardly speak just continue to keep things in perspective. This also confirms (not that you need my experiences to confirm anything) what we ve been learning in our 2 Corinthians series in Church, specifically, to be heavenly minded and to be a courageous Christian by trusting the Lord s direction and provision. I want you to know I put those concepts to the test last Sunday as I was preaching. If you were there, you might recall I mentioned I was nervous. Well, the Lord took care of that and after that comment I can t recall being nervous but rather experienced an uncommon sense of confidence and, yes, courage throughout the rest of the message. I m reminded of the time when the Apostle Peter was called to take a stroll on the water with Jesus and, after doing so, when he began to sink simply called out help, Lord and was immediately restored to safety within the boat. We really can trust Him in every circumstance of our lives. Soli Deo Gloria! (To God alone be the glory) Jim Humphreys, Director of Worship Ministries 5
Biblical Parenting Seminar 6 We are so excited to bring back the amazing team of Scott T and Joanna Miller to teach us how to parent the heart of a child. If we can reach the heart then the battle is won. It is disheartening for many parents to see how anger is disrupting family life. This program will give you a plan for addressing anger in your home. They find that parents who don t have strategies that work use anger to solve problems. We want children to have real tools to address their anger too or they will deal with anger for the rest of their lives. Mark your calendar and invite all your friends to hear this life changing information. They will help you move step by step through a plan to get where you need to be.
