GOOD MORNING FAMILY Visiting Day He was looking forward to this moment all week long, after six days if finally arrived Visiting Day! The man with the keys arrived to swing open the large, heavy doors. The cold, gray hall springs to life in the warm glow of light. He could hardly control his emotions. The families begin to arrive. He peers from the corner of the room longing for the first glimpse of his loved ones. He lives for the weekends. He lives for these visits. As the cars arrive, he watches intently. Then, finally, she arrives, his bride, for whom he would do anything. They embrace, eat a light lunch and reminisce how things used to be. At one point, they break into singing, with interruptions of laughter and applause. But all too soon it is over. A tear comes to his eye as his bride departs. Then the man with the keys closes the heavy doors. He hears the key turn in the lock marking the end of a special day. There he stands, along again. He knows that most of his visitors will not contact him again till next week. As the last car pulls away from the parking lot, Jesus retreats into loneliness as He waits until next Sunday Visiting Day. I share this story with you to ask these questions: How much time do you spend with Jesus? Has Sunday become visiting for you? Is it the only day that you spend with Jesus? And that only one hour or two? Does visiting day come around less frequently than it used to (maybe once a month or even less)? Or do you spend time daily with God? My hope is that you take hold of Christ s promise that He is always with us (Matthew 28:20). The truth is that it is so easy to allow our lives to become so compartmentalized that we have our life at work, our life at home, our life at school, our life at church, etc and we end up conforming to the image of the situation rather than conforming to the image of God s Son (Romans 8:29). The result is the weakening of faith and convictions. The power of the Holy Spirit that is at our fingertips is not used and Satan wins another battle. My challenge to you for the year 2019 is to let the presence of Christ infiltrate every aspect of your life. Let Christ dwell in your hearts and fill you up with His power so that daily you are becoming more and more like Christ. Don t miss an opportunity to be near Him, to hear His voice, to serve Him, to love His people, to remember your first love (Revelation 2:4-5). Keep Looking Up! David Jordan THE CHURCH WINDOW PAGE 2

Lingering with Lawania I found this article while going through my grandmother s bible. It was on a yellowed piece of newsprint. I have no idea to the date of the article but found it kind of interesting. DID HE COLLECT? R.J. The following is the information you requested recently. It was forwarded to us by several of our readers and to them we express our thanks for their prompt response. An artist was employed to renovate some oil paintings in an old church in Belgium. On presenting his bill for $67.28, he was informed that an itemized statement was required. He presented the following: For correcting the Ten Commandments $5.12 For renewing Heaven and adjusting the stars For touching up purgatory and restoring lost souls 7.12 3.06 For brightening up the flames of hell, putting a new tail on the devil and doing odd jobs for the damned 7.17 For putting a new stone in David s sling and adjusting Goliath s head 6.13 For mending the shirt of the prodigal son and cleaning his car 3.39 For putting a new ribbon on Pilate s bonnet 3.02 For putting a new tail and comb on St. Peter s rooster 2.20 For regilding the left wing of the Guardian Angel 5.18 For putting carmine on the left cheek of the servant of the high priest 5.02 For taking the spots off the son of Tobias 10.30 For putting earrings on Sarah s ears For mending the roof of Noah s Ark and putting a new head on Shem 5.26 5.31 Please remit.$67.28 Note: I added the items up and came up with $68.28 but the article stated due was $67.28.
