7601 VINE LINCOLN, NEBRASKA 68505 ST. JOHN THE APOSTLE Happy Pentecost Birthday of the Church! For those who haven t had the chance to visit St. Peter s Basilica in Rome, this is the sculpture around the chair of St. Peter (by Bernini, 1598-1659). The four statues of Doctors of the Church are: from the west, Ambrose and Athanasius (left); and, from the east, John Chrysostom and Augustine (right), who consistently proclaimed the truth of Christ and His Church. The fine alabaster window shows the Holy Spirit, the soul of the Church, as a dove who flies above the span of the centuries as the Promise and Guarantee that the Gospel will never change. In 2006, on the feast of the Chair of St. Peter, Benedict XVI said: I invite you to pause before that evocative work, which today it is possible to admire decorated with so many candles, and pray in a particular way for the ministry that God has entrusted to me. Raising one's gaze to the alabaster glass window that opens precisely above the chair, invoke the Holy Spirit, so that he will always sustain with His light and strength my daily service to the whole Church. For this, as for your devoted attention, I thank you from my heart. Thanks St. John s for faithfully praying for Benedict XVI. Fr. Lyle M. Johnson & Fr. Lee T. Jirovsky MAY 23, 2010

It is beautiful and we are blessed! - Susanne Blue, MSW, Executive Director, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach Are you a busy working person or a young mother who doesn t have time to pray the rosary every day? Then consider becoming a member of the LIVING ROSARY. You could receive numerous blessings by praying only one decade daily in your own home at the time most convenient for you. NO MEETINGS, NO FEES. Even if you pray the rosary every day, you may wish to pray an extra decade for the two very important purposes of the Living Rosary: That those who have never had faith may receive it and that those having had faith and abandoned the Church may return to it. We all know someone who may be in one of these situations, don t we? Call Irene Chermok, 464-1218, for information, or to ask for an assigned decade Tuesday is Abortion Day! Lincoln Planned parenthood does abortions on Tuesday each week. Over 10,000 babies have been put to death in the 15 years they have been open.
