Congratulations Parents, You have begun to prepare your youth to receive the wonderful sacrament of Confirmation! Don t panic!! This journey of love and faith has been taking place in your family since the baptism of your child. You have been teaching your child right from wrong, the rules and guidelines of everyday living and God s place in your family life. As the primary educators of your children, you, along with your teen s sponsor, are called to be intimately involved in his/her catechesis for Confirmation (NCB #19). Through your guidance, with the help of a faith-filled sponsor, and the Confirmation Program here at St. Martin s, your youth will come to better understand and appreciate the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the beauty of the Catholic faith and God s grace in their life. Together, we will work to accomplish the following goals, as put forth by the Diocese of Orange: 1. To guide young people in the call to holiness by developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, by meeting Him in the Scriptures, in the life and teachings of the Catholic Church, and in their own daily prayer. 2. To nurture a desire in the young people for an understanding of an active participation in the sacramental life of the Church. 3. To empower young people to embrace the richness of diversity, to live the moral and theological virtues and to apply these virtues in their decision making. 4. To help young people develop a life of Christian service modeled on Jesus life. 5. To equip and empower youth to use their gifts and talents for the greater glory of God and His Church. Doesn t sound too hard, does it? Working together, I believe we can accomplish these goals. But it starts here, and right now! Please fill out ALL the required paperwork and return them to the parish office ASAP but no registrations processed past SEPTEMBER 14, 2017. (A late fee will be applied to late registrations.) On behalf of all involved with the Confirmation Program here at St. Martin s, WELCOME!! We look forward to making this journey of love and faith with your teen and with you. God bless you and your family! God Bless, Mary McDevitt MaryM@smdpyl.org Katie Castillo KatieC@smdpyl.org Assistant Youth Ministers
