MODEL A RESTORERS CLUB SPECIAL POINTS OF IN- TEREST: Downriver Model A News V O L U M E 3, I S S U E 1 1 President s Corner N O V E M B E R, 2 0 1 8 NOV. 3RD @ 5PM FORD HISTORY PRESEN- TATION Hello Downriver A s club members, it s this me of year that our driving season is ending and we must store our cars for a long winter. I remind everyone about this me that we don t want to just put them in the garage and cover them up. There are things that we should do before pu ng them away. A few things are if you have plain water in your radiator you have to drain it out or you will have a cracked engine or head in the spring. Check your an freeze for the correct strength, Inflate your res air pressure to 35 p.s.i. It s a good me to polish the chrome parts and maybe even the whole car, put some moth balls in the car to keep the mice out, and charge the ba ery or put a trickle charger on it for the winter. A er you do all of this you will probably only have to check the air pressure and the ba ery one more me over winter and be good to go before star ng a new driving season in the spring. I hope all of you have enjoyed this year s driving season and hope next year will be even be er. At our Nov. mee ng we will be making prepara ons for our Christmas Party so I hope you all can a end to share your input. Till next me President Jim Smith

Model A Restorer s Downriver A s Region Mee ng Minutes of October 8, 2018 Mee ng Minutes: The mee ng was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by President, Jimmy Smith. Introduc on of New Guest: None present at this mee ng. Thinking of: No word of anyone being sick or hospitalized at this mee ng. If you know of anyone that needs a card with some cheer, please let the secretary know. We want them to know that we are all thinking of them and miss them at our mee ngs. Announcements: Jimmy men oned that he has raffle ckets available for sale for items at the next Na onal Meet which will be in Dearborn 2019. Vice President s Report: Pete Biddle gave us a report on recent events such as: Somewhere in Time at Elizabeth Park on September 16 th. There were more than 24 cars present and 33 members. It was a beau ful day for a picnic. Special thanks to Tim & Kay for grilling the hot dogs. On September 22 nd Pete & Jan Biddle hosted a tour to MacQueen s Apple Orchard in Holland, Ohio and Benne s Orchard in O awa Lake, Michigan. We enjoyed a fantas c lunch at the Whitehouse Inn, in Whitehouse Ohio. Before heading home, we made a stop for ice cream in Grand Rapids, Ohio. We had 9 Model A s and 22 people a ending this tour. On September 29 th eleven members a ended the Script A Regions Round up in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Pete men oned it was a very nice round up and they had a great me. Sonny & Lois Bruner hosted an event which took us through back country roads to Technical Topics: Jimmy had some electric wipers to talk about but decided to wait un l the November mee ng due to the low number of members at the October mee ng. Reminder: Our Christmas Party will be December 8 th at the Wes ield Community Center. Becky volunteered to put together a basket for the ladies. WE NEED a volunteer to put together a basket for the men. This is a great raffle don t forget to buy your ckets that night. Next Mee ng: November 12, 2018 7:00 p.m.

Zukey Lake Tavern in Pinckney, Michigan. Due to inclement weather (it poured) those that a ended drove their modern car to this event. A erwards we were invited to the farm of Brian and Angie Jessie for donuts and cider. Angie made two great dips for us served along with fresh fruit and cookies. Their home was decorated for Halloween with many interes ng things to look at. They shared some of their farm fresh eggs to take home. We really enjoyed our visit, thank you Brian & Angie for invi ng the group to your home. Upcoming events: Pete men oned that on October 14 th there will be a Purple Gang Event held at the Detroit Yacht Club on Belle Island. The cost is $125.00 per person, or $200.00 per couple. If you bring your car the entrance fee will be waived. On November 3 rd Gordon Johnson will be hos ng a presenta on on Ford Motor Company at the Wes ield Community Center (our usual mee ng place) at 5:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. We will eat from 5 p.m. 6 p.m. The club will pay for pizza, but you will need to bring your own drinks. If you could bring a dessert that would be great. Please no fy Jan Biddle if you plan to a end as soon as possible so we have a definite head count for pizza. Gordon puts on a great presenta on hope to see you there. On November 10 th the Trenton Educa onal Founda on is hos ng an event at Crystal Gardens in Southgate. This is one of their signature events in which they raise money for grant awards and Scholarships. The event is from 6:00 pm 9:00 p.m. They would like to know if it would be possible to have 2 or 3 cars to display out front for this event you must be there at 5:30 to have your car in place. Please contact Greg Pierce for further details if you are able to a end this event for about one hour. Treasurer s Report: Accepted as submi ed by Sonny Bruner. Secretary s Report: Accepted as submi ed by Kathy Sylvester. Library Report: None at this me. (It was brought up that we should have a book or list of all the items in our library so members would know what is available to take out for help or a book to enjoy.) Editor s Report: None at this me. Tool Report: Greg Pierce reported that Kathy returned the color chart, Sonny has the gas gauge tool and Jerry Gates borrowed the engine li. Old Business: Jimmy will be calling Ken Baker regarding a library list. Jimmy also brought up the subject of ordering business cards for the club members. This will be helpful for each member to have a few cards to pass out to people who might be interested in joining our club. A card order will be placed by Greg Pierce for 1,000 cards. 50/50 Raffle: Tonight s winner was Pete Biddle a whopping $10.00.
