BUSH CHRISTMAS (Thank you Myrna for sharing your beautiful poem with us) High in the gum trees cicadas are singing, Home to their nests pink galahs are now winging, Magpies are warbling, curlews are calling, Night time is nearing, that s what I m hearing, It s Christmas Eve in the bush. Out in the dry grass goannas are hunting, Kangaroos venture from shady spots sheltering, Grass parrots returning, young ones are yearning, For seeds of grasses how the time passes, It s Christmas Eve in the bush. The stockmen returning, their camp fire is burning, Their saddles are placed on the rail, Their horses are feed, tired men in their bed, Wait for the morning, and a new dawning, It s Christmas Eve in the bush. The cattle are calling, night time is falling, The sheep in the meadow lie perfectly still, A chorus of angels, to shepherds announcing, A Saviour is born peace and goodwill to all. It s Christmas Eve in the bush. On the horizon, the full moon is rising, Casting it s golden glow over the earth, High in the eastern sky something will catch the eye, The brightest of stars says there s been a new birth. It s Christmas Eve in the bush. There s no need for sorrow for as of tomorrow, We ll happily join with all nations on earth, In praising this baby, who s come to save me, And who I will follow, till he calls me home. It s Christmas Eve in the bush. Church bells are ringing, children are singing, Their songs of rejoicing, for Jesus is here, Voices are raising, the Saviour we re praising As families gather together once more, It s Christmas Day in the bush. Wishing everyone in our Parish a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year Confession and Forgiveness workshops Pastor Stuart Kleinig (pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church Wagga Wagga & Milbralong) has offered the whole parish the opportunity to grow in faith and learn how to deal with any strained relationships in a healthy biblical and Christ-focused way. This would involve each member reading the book: Confession and Forgiveness by Ted Kober and attending a series of practical workshops which will work through such topics as: 1. How to rightly understand the Gospel and distinguish between Law and Gospel; 2. How to rightly self-reflect and apply God s Word to our own (and each other s) lives; 3. How to identify idols of the heart (which often lead to unfair demands, angry frustrations, hasty judgments, and harsh punishments of each other); 4. How to confess and forgive; and 5. How to rightly deal with material issues within a Christian community. We can order books to be read during December and January, and are hoping to hold the first workshop sometime in February. Future workshops will be held periodically afterward. Please let Pastor Christian Fandrich, or our Parish Administrator, Bev Harding, know if you would like to a copy of the book Confession & Forgiveness (approx. cost $22) Noel Salzke (Parish Chair) & Pastor Christian Fandrich
