31st Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3 From Fr. Dave Bruning. This coming Monday I am going to have an outpatient surgery at Wildwood to repair my knee. It will be done by means of a scope, so it should be minimal. But I will likely be hobbling around for a while, so be patient with me. Lisa Pierson also had a similar surgery this past Friday, so I hope and pray for a quick recovery for both of us. This coming Friday we will have a Holy Hour, with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, after the 8:15am Mass until 10:00am. This is to commemorate the Week of Prayer for Vocations. Some parishes are having this Wednesday, but it works better to have it here on Friday. If you are able, you re invited to stop by and spend some time in prayer that more of our young people will respond to God s call, particularly if they are being called to priesthood, deaconate or religious life. In the Charlotte Airport on the way down to Florida recently, I ran into the new Bishop of the Pensacola-Tallahassee Diocese. He was coming back home from Chicago where he had met with officials of Catholic Charities about the needs of his diocese after Hurricane Michael. This reminded me that one of the best ways to assist those efforts is to contribute to Catholic Charities through our diocese. Checks can be sent to our Catholic Charities Office at 1933 Spielbusch Avenue, Toledo, OH 43604. They should be made out to Catholic Charities with Hurricane Michael Relief on the byline. Mine has been sent, and there will be a need for this assistance for some time. It includes shrubs and trees with colors for every season; pink blossoms in spring, reds and purples throughout summer and dramatic reds and oranges in autumn. The elegant plantings selected are designed to compliment the architecture and red stained glass windows of the church. Consider being part of the beautiful environment by donating a tree or flowering shrub, or contributing toward the landscaping. Notice: The bulletin insert is a list for Phase I of the landscape project to be completed this fall. Phase II will include the Shrine and Parish Office. This letter reveals many remarkable gifts that we as Christians are given in the Church. Ephesians also tells us about the nature of the Church as a body, as a family, as a mystery, as a communion, and as the bride of Christ. Ephesians will help us to discover our inheritance as it reveals how God s great love for us can transform our daily lives if we allow it. Ephesians will enrich our faith and help show us how to live it out.
