It is made by Tamarian Carpets, the company founded by the Form I parents of Brandon Cibor, Steve & Jennifer Cibor. Every step of production is done with the care and touch of the human hand. The techniques and tools have remained unchanged for hundreds of years. The materials are the finest nature offers from the lanolin-rich, hand carded hand spun Tibetan wool, to the small lot dyeing process. Tamarian's dye-masters use finely manipulated dyes to enhance the wools natural boldness and luster, while maintaining its colorfastness for decades to come. Each rug is woven knot by knot on an upright loom, using the Tibetan loop Senneh knot. When weaving is completed, the rug is cut from the loom, sheared and trimmed, and given a final wash to bring out the rich hues and variations that are a hallmark of every Tamarian carpet. Donated by: St. Anselm s Abbey School and Abbey This icon, painted by Fr. Boniface, depicts the child Jesus asleep on a bed. Though a human child, he is fully divine. Although his eyes are closed in sleep, he, as God, is fully awake and watches over us. As such, this icon was often placed over the door of Eastern monastery churches through which the monks would pass to their dormitories. In some Greek churches it was placed over the western door to remind people that The Lord will guard your coming and going both now and forever (Psalm 121:8). Some see in this depiction an allusion to Christ s sleep in death awaiting the resurrection. Fr. Bonifice says, I also find in it an allusion to Jesus asleep in the boat on the storm tossed Sea of Galilee. The earliest extent version of this icon is to be found in the Pantokrator Monastery on Mount Athos. It dates from the late 13th century. Donated by: Fr. Boniface Von Nell, OSB 1009 Icon
