Back in the days of Noah, our God promised: As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease. Genesis 8:22 WELCOME: In this fall season of the year, when the last of the leaves are still on the trees and we anticipate the first snow flakes of the season, we take comfort in God s promise that He will faithfully give seed time and harvest without fail. We warmly welcome each of our guests today. May our compassionate God provide for you and your loved ones as you look to Him for grace in this season. We invite you to join us in the Fellowship Hall following our morning service for refreshments and fellowship. Children aged 3-5 meet your teacher in the foyer during the offering this morning for Children s Church. Adult Bible Study TONIGHT following the evening service- Lesson 2. ABOUT OUR MESSAGES This morning, our journey through Acts comes to Acts 23:12-35. It can often be tempting to take matters into our own hands when the systems and structures we need to depend on seem to fail and we no longer trust them. In taking matters into their own hands, Paul s opponents begin a match up that s doomed to fail: Human Plots vs. God s Plans. This evening, we ll be celebrating the sacrament of communion together. This will be the last of our evening communion sermons focusing on the one another passages of the New Testament, and we end with the call of James 5:13-20 to Confess Your Sins to One Another. **Last week we handed out Peter Fish. There are some still available in the Narthex, if you didn t get one. Proceeds from these go to World Renew which helps World Hunger. We will be collecting these next Sunday, November 11th.**
PRAYERS AND PRAISES This morning, we praise God to be joined by our supported missionaries LaVeryl and Max Voss, who work with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea. During morning worship, we look forward to their testimony of God s grace overseas. After our service, take the opportunity to greet the Voss s and encourage them in their continued work! We extend our Christian sympathies to the family of our sister Helen Pheifer, who died a week ago and was laid to rest this past Friday. Please be in prayer for Carlyle and the entire family to trust fully in the hope of glory as they move forward. We share in the sorrow of Paul and Sarah Krogstad after the sudden loss of Paul s mother, Marcella, this past week. We pray that this family might trust the promises of our Shepherd- God through the valley of sorrow. Be in prayer for Albert and Delores Kuipers after Albert fell in his home this week and was airlifted to Sioux Falls. Pray for God s protection over Albert and God s peace to guard the hearts of this family along his side. Baptism: On November 11, our church will celebrate the sacrament of baptism, as Jon and Taryn Hoeksema present their daughter, Skyler Dean to receive the symbol of God s covenant promises. Continue to pray for Skyler as she grows, and for Jon and Taryn as they begin the difficult journey of parenting. Prayer for Elections: Our nation s midterm elections are on Tuesday. As a church, we ll be spending extended time in prayer for our country and for our leaders during worship this Sunday evening. Come join us! OUR ANNOUNCEMENTS The Annual Congregational Meeting will be held Sunday, November 18 at 6:45 PM. Please set aside that night and pray that the Lord s will be done in all that is decided.
