RESPONSIVE PROFESSION OF FAITH* Mr. Basil Smith Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ. According to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses. According to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight he has made known to us the mystery of his will. According to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. - based on Ephesians 1:3-11 & Romans 8:28-30 -! 6 -

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK Take time to discuss these questions with your family on the morning of the first day, then revisit the question on the next morning after reflecting on it throughout the day. Consider interacting with your church family on these questions at facebook.com/wpclaurel. Monday/Tuesday Paul points out that his and all ministry is built on the foundation of the ministry of Christ. We are called to be ministers in all our areas of influence and opportunity. As we seek to do so how does it impact your confidence and dedication to recognize that your ministry is built upon the foundation of Christ s ministry? Wednesday/Thursday We often build our lives on foundations other than Christ. Paul says that trials will expose such weak foundations. What are the weak foundations we build our lives upon, and how are those foundations exposed when difficulties come our way? Friday/Saturday There are a lot of ideas about how to build a growing church. Many of those ideas appear to be effective when it comes to numerical growth. In Acts 2:42-47, the first church grew numerically, but numerical growth was a byproduct of ministry, not the purpose. Based on our passage, and also Acts 2:42-47, what is the purpose of the church? -! 9 -

Our mission team to Honduras will be visiting expectant mothers in a hospital in La Esperanza. These ladies all walk, hike or catch a ride to get to the hospital on a trip that takes one to six hours depending on where they are coming from. They stay in an Alberge (dorm) for one to three weeks before delivery because they have high risk pregnancies and need to deliver in the hospital and not at home. The hospital does not provide toilet paper, diapers, hygiene products or anything besides a bed, nurses and doctors for the moms or babies, and many come with very little. Our goal is to take 25 mom packs and 25 baby packs with us in June, to help provide basic necessities for the moms and babies we meet. YOU CAN HELP by picking up any of the items listed and bringing them to the church. Boxes are available in the atrium and office. Help us share the love of Christ in Honduras! MOM PACKS: 1. shampoo 2. conditioner 3. lotion 4. feminine pads 5. deodorant 6. toothbrush 7. toothpaste 8. brush or comb 9. fingernail kit BABY PACKS: 1. 2 receiving blankets 2. infant hat 3. package of cloth diapers (hardest to get because of the expense) 4. sleeper 5. onesie 6. socks 7. baby shampoo 8. diaper pins HONDURAS Mission Trip June 13-20, 2015 Work with villagers to build a church Visit schools and share the gospel Visit hospital maternity wards to pray and provide baby care packages We will build the roof and pour the floor of a simple 20 X40 building which the villagers will complete with walls made of local mud blocks. Forty families live in this small mountain village with limited electricity and only one water well for the whole community. Most are indigenous Lenca Native American descent. There is currently no church in the area, so this will be an outstanding opportunity to get involved on the ground floor of what could be a longterm relationship. The organization we will work with also has medical, farming, feeding and other educational ministries; so those less inclined to construction can certainly find opportunities to plug in. Our team will stay in the comfortable facility the Duncans stayed in last summer with clean drinking water, hot showers and comfortable beds. $600 per person / $300 each additional family member Price includes airfare, accommodations and meals TODAY is the Deadline to sign up Please let us know if you plan to join us:
